benefits with a rebuild? well depends on lots of things- like is your current motor still running? is it old or new? do you run a tunable ecu? do you wish to keep the same cc rating and geometry? head work or not, same turbo or not?

worlds your oyster there mate. Where its an RA, R, STI, WRX coupe, hatch or 4dr has no bearing on the answer fwiw.

further reading your post makes me think you are just looking to refresh the bearings / rings and seals etc = your definition of rebuild...

repower means go for a forged or different long block? again the worlds basically your oyster depending on what you currently have.

2.5s are nice and torquey for the street and their engine characteristics are well documented.

Road tunes generally are quite lax and best to get them on the dyno to be honest.

cheers mate.

umm well basicly i want to go faster than what i am at the mo.

the car is a 1996 4 door type ra.

so its a toss up weither i go for the 2.5 with a street tune.

spend the dosh.

or go with building up the current block i have.

not just rings and bearings, im talkin the works. boring out biger injectors better turbo.

that sort of thing (complete overhall)

even down to the running gear 6 speed. big breaks etc etc.

spoken to a few guys bout the 6 speed but decided to hold off on it due to bills so on so forth.

Whatever you do is going to get expensive fast if youve got a stock engine. Start with a short block along with sti heads, turbo, injectors, tuneable ecu, exhaust, intake, walbro and list goes on and on and on. Ive spent minimum on mine but reality is its pretty easy to get 200-220kw atw out of an sti. Intake, exhaust, ecu, walbro = 220kw atw. Anything more really needs injectors and turbo which is a bit of an outlay. Pre V7 sti engines dont really like more than 220-230kw atw is the general opinion regarding how far you can push them but how long it lasts depends on the tune which is $800-1200 depending where you go.

yea i knew it was goana get expensiv fast bro... just tryna find out general info.

i know the list is long and extensiv but truth is im not looking for a trak car that i rip the engine out after evvery meet,

im just looking to build a fast well ballanced street car that looks nice astecicly with power to boast.

that is some what reliable....

so im thinking the 2.5 litre...????

\'96 is pretty early for a version 4. Anywho, why not just get an ECU and a tune. You\'ll likely end up with more power than you have now, and it might last years like that on your old tired bottom end. If it pops, you can decide to go ahead and spend big money on a bulletproof [lulz] motor, or call it quits before you\'ve spent twenty grand you\'ll never get back.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
