Sup peps i have a 1997 gtb legacy!

My gear stick seems to be very lose compared to my mates Honda Integra..

Is there a way you tighten the gear stick? and who has the same problem?

Pretty common problem. You can replace the bushes in the linkage and that might tighten it up a bit. Adding a short shift kit will help too.

The Subaru uses a direct metal linkage to the gearbox, if i remember right the Integra uses control wires? Which would naturally make it tighter

Mines loose as f***. I had a look at the linkages when i got me exhaust done, and it actually had no bushes at all, they had completely disintegrated. I think it's at least a $200 job to fix, the linkages are a good $100+ on their own.

On some you can pull the linkages apart and replace just the bushes. About $10 per bush x4.

On the ones you have to replace the whole linkage, I have in the past ground the top off the pins and disassembled the linkage, fitted the bushes then replaced the pins with bolts. A bit more time involved but cheaper in the long run, especially if you DIY...

Yeah, a guy i was talking to suggested this. He had also done one with just machined alloy for the bushes... That'd be rather brutal :D

my gtb did this once. its the centering spring, on the underside of the gear selector (below the stick, under the car). i got a subaru specialist to replace mine, as i couldnt be bothered doing it myself. cost a couple of dollars for the spring and 5 mins to put it on.

ok, ive taken the interior out of the centerconsole area, your meaning that theres a spring under the ball for the shifter? i tried to moved the ball part round etc but it seemed to have very little play in that area, felt more like a bush at the g box end...

It's NOT the car mate, not in anyway. It's location and time + front mount + ride height + exhaust + plate. All can be fixed and you'll never be bothered. I've been pulled over twice, in the last year and a half in my black GTB limited, both times resulting in nothing. It's all about outward appearance, not the car itself.

no, as i said in my last post, its UNDER the car. poke your head under the car, and look at where the gearstick and its linkages are, there will either be a broken spring hanging there, or two little loops that need a spring put on them.

Unfortunately, that linkage part is one thing i just dont have a photo of >_<

Spring snapping wouldnt cause the shifter to hit the side of the tunnel as it doesnt restrict movement at all. It just wouldnt re-center itself

mine did, it just flopped over to the left hand side. once you moved it to the right, past the center it was fine, but it was a pita finding 1,2,3,4th gears.

Sounds like its the car to me. Unless is the weather, it must be the weather ::)

And turtle fails at reading comprehension once again! You need an award for that one mate. What i was implying was owning an RSB won't get you pulled up, but owning one with the mods listed will. The car itself is fine, it's the mods to it that are attracting attention.

Mmm, now back on topic...

The car is a combination of the vehicle and the mods, its not the front mount and the exhaust and rims etc that get it pulled over, its the car they are on. Therefore the car has a large determining factor in geting it pulled over. I can't be bothered arguing with you. Good day.

Please don't call me MATE.

Very odd indeed.

+1 oh and even with a massive scoop too :P, although I think I've been pulled up 5-6 times in 4 years. And in 8 years of owning wrx's I would been pulled over I think 10 times total

So in essence Im pulled over 1.2ish times a year haha ;D

sitting in a gassy filling up then getting "pulled" doesnt constitute in driving does it. and ive been pulled over pulling out of a carpark, no i did not even hit boost, ive been pulled over just cruisin at sub 110 on the motorway, and had my car checked. even going through police checkpoints, i get asked to pull to the side for an inspection.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
