Fuel door wont open

Having trouble opening the fuel door on my GF8 wagon. Today i visited winger who were confident they could help and we had no luck there, ended up costing me too much... I\'ve searched the net and got in touch with some wreckers but still nothing. I\'ve found some pictures of the parts that i need also but cant find then online. If anyone has had a similar issue or has some good advice pleas do share. Cheers.

Mine did that theres a tiny metal spring thing that clips into the plastic thingy that attaches to the cap. My spring thingy fell out and flap wouldnt spring open anymore. Had to flip it out with a screwdriver then replaced the plastic thingy with a new metal thingy on it from pickapart. Job done.

You could have a broken cable tho?

Thanks for the response. It\'s not the cable as you can open the fuel door as long as you have two people. I\'ve tried that but i think the plastic clip may be broken also. Which pick a part did you get your bits from?

Mines GF8 hatch mate picked it up when he was trawling for nissan parts not sure which one.

Good find! Friday afternoon is not the best time to ask people to get in touch with you... I\'ve got in touch with a wrecker and will take the parts i bought from the Subaru dealer to see if they can be any use. Think they\'re open briefly on Saturdays. Tempted to glue a bloody spring to the door.

yea mine broke also so made 1 up so it pushes on the fuel cap so when i pop the lever it opens, if the cap is in wrong position it dont work tho ;D

If your just over 6 foot you can pull the release and push on the back of the fuel flap to open it, I have been doing it for two years now lol.

Are you sure? I am over 6ft and no luck maybe because I have the wagon? Lol two years now, who needs replacement parts? My mate suggested a piece of sponge

Ah wagon may be longer in the body. I\'m about 6\'1 and I\'m working on the idea your arm span is your height, not sure if thats a myth or not but I can certainly reach.

But yup, 2 years now because I\'m to lazy to fix it ha ha, probably should get onto that

Yes it\'s called the Ape Index. People can either be negative (taller), equal, or positive (shorter), so it can vary.

if it has a rubber stopper or screw somewhere in there just put a biro spring in there

Thats the part mate got from pickapart.

I called strong up asking for the twist clips that hold the solenoid cover in place in my enginebay..

$25 NZD + GST for a single CLIP!!

I got from my mechanic. Lucklily he had another gc8 in the garage so we then knew exactly what to get!

Got for a better price than at Subaru. Typical dealership gave me a legacy part...
