Now tell me whats the next size up from 440ccs that will fit striaght into my v5 wrx?

Im maxing mine out at 15psi!

99 V5 Wrx non sti factory 440cc yellow tops.

my version 3 (sti) had 440cc standard (yellows). Not Upgrade. They fit into fozzies and V3 (wrx) and V1/2 that have greys as standard (380cc).

The v5/6 440's shouldnt be confused with v3/4 440's tho as they are different.

I have what i think is the next upgrade in my sti.. purple top Apexi's at 555cc. they are direct plug and play.

then 650 is your next step i believe...

*the above info for is for v1/4. V5/6 is different

I don't know how much truth there is in it, but Dave at D Tech has supposedly decapped the V5/6 yellows to flow something stupid like 800cc. I have no idea whether its true or not, but I have heard it from more than 1 source.

So your apexis wouldnt directly fit my v5?

correct - they changed fitting in the v5/6 rails. This is limited by the fuel rail fittings however so if you change these you can do as you wish - More farking round with it though. One would suspect you can get apexis or something in the 550 range to fit your rails...

ive heard of, 440, 550, 555, 600, 650, 740, 800, 1000. Im sure there are others

AFAIK they are still side fed however, v8 onwards are top (i think).

The v 5/6 are still yellows but infamously known as the "big yellows" coz they are just a bit bigger in size.

Hope these ramblings make sense...

short story is, its determined by rail fittings, which is determined by manifold type.

*which can be mixed and matched with some careful modification.

yessir.

My mate has some 850s in his big green starlet which i thnk may fit. Will see if a bottle of Jim will secure them.

that would be a fuken steal...

also be careful that the plug fittings to the wires are the same - a real trick for new players.

clearly you will need to re-tune your car before running it at all eh...

Ive heard about this decapping aswell. youd think if it were possible more people would know about it.

yer thats reasonably well known as an art.. definately not a science thats for sure. I think its pretty well known also that it messes up the stray pattern and instead of misting you get much more of a jet.

I would go safe and just buy the right injector at the rating you want/need

A lot of people have done it with great success.

Its something that if you've tried it you swear by it, but people (like myself) are still sceptical of doing it the "backyard" way.

Not to say it doesn't work, because i've heard from people i have great respect for that it does, and they've done it (not sure on how, someone with more clue can fill in my blanks), but its not the solution for everyone.

Coincidentally, on the weekend I decapped some yellow top 440cc I bought of trade me for $160 for fun.

Just got back a minute ago from having them flow tested. Unfortunately rather than going out to the Hutt to get them tested by my tuner, I got them done just around the corner from my work. I'm trying to work out how he tested them, as the figures I've got aren't in cc. However, they are all flowing evenly, at 220 something. Once I figure out the real conversion, I'll let you know the cc increase. The tuner has said the only problem ( apart from increase fuel usage ) will be, over a long time, possible pitting on the cylinder wall ?? But this is over 5-10years.

ive got decapped yellows running in my car and they are mint under any power but a bit rough at idle with a possum link and 3 bar map sensor. they flow 960cc at 3 bar and all were withen 1% of each other when i got 16 flow tested

im pretty sure the way Dave does it is replace the actual cap with a twin spray cap not just drill a bigger hole or whatever the hory backyard way is..

forcefed has these in his car and it does work rated to 800cc and runs perfectly.....

it works and think its about 250 to be done alot cheaper than anoterh set of injectors.....

Dave knows his stuff wouldnt do it if he didnt work thats for sure....

Are we talking V5-6 sidefeeds or newage top feeds? I was sure before that the later sidefeeds could be decapped but was told categorically no it was only the top feeds.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
