Should i get a fmic ?? BL5

Hi . I was thinking of getting a hdi gt2 top mount intercooler kit for my legacy bl5..

Question are should i or should i not ?? And why ?? Will it be a good upgrade ?? Will there be lots of lags ?? Please help im not sure what to do ..

You will get a lot of different opinions but personally I wouldn\'t bother unless your building a 400hp beast, or constantly stuck in traffic heat soaking. You will get more power, but boost & acceleration will not be as responsive. I\'d prefer response over a slight power gain any day. Plus with factory parts needing to be moved/removed and the extent of work involved to get a professional fit I would be doing a lot of research before spending any money.

But in saying all of that, they do look pretty damn good...

the hdi stuff is an awesome intercooler . do it . you wont regret it .

that black one looks the goods . the stock bumper doesnt lend itself to a fmic very well does it

Yeah would really need a different front bumper like that black one, not sure there\'d be much cooling done with stock bumper

Probably help with heatsoak tho as it would suck air through it with factory fans behind it. My thoughts were bumper not ultimate either and no polite way of cutting it up either. Wonder how much surface area difference there would be.

The only arguments for saying "don\'t go FMIC" tend to come from those who haven\'t actually tried it or are justifying why they went with a TMIC

There are literally no downsides, apart from possibly a 0.05sec delay in response, if you can notice that then you should be driving for a living (I sure as hell can\'t). Only possible reason I can see for keeping the top mount is damage related - can\'t get a rock flicked through it etc?

Mine has also netted about 50k per tank better economy so will pay for itself eventually too ha. More power, everywhere, all the time - why wouldn\'t you do it.

There are hundreds upon thousands of dyno sheets online for the gains and reviews of FMIC\'s on late model subys (the GT legacy is pretty popular to modify in the US remember) and I\'m yet to find anything - anywhere - which shows a measured reduction in response or loss in driveability.
