Modifying wrx seats

Hey all, just bought myself a wrx. I have found though that the seats don\'t suit me too well

The supports in the middle of the back dig into my ribcage. I manage to bend them out slightly, although not enough

How easy is it to remove and replace the outer cover to leave the metal frame? That way I can bend them properly.

what year is the wrx? you\'ll find that the later model seats are a bit wider around the shoulders and waist, with slightly better (imo) seat bolstering. think v7 through to v9. so, the blue ones. bolt straight in too

Put in evo 5- seats...or late honda vtec ones...

the 555 blues are wide than all the red/black/gray ones too . im upwards of 6 foot and 100 kg and the fit me good as . hate all the red black gray ones

i had the covers off my seats but i dont recall the foam coming off / seeing the steel inside the back

the covers come off pretty easy buy youll need to glue them back in other wise they are all baggy where your spine goes

this, i\'m 6ft and just shy of 100, damn comfy seats. my red seats i had in the forester, i needed to bend out the side bolsters a touch to get my shoulders back into the seat correctly.

The shoulder parts are fine its just the middle part

Most evo seats and itr seats do the same thing.

I\'m a fairly sizable chap, very wide ribcage.

go for the v7/8/9 blues... bloody comfy seats, bit wider to start with too

Might have to try track one down to have a sit in. Best when your my size to try before you buy!

See if the foam has broken down in that area. I\'m a big guy, 6.\'1 120 kg last time I wasnt to afraid of the scales and over the 5 or so years I have had my car I have broken down the padding so I am sitting with bare bar pushing into my ribs on the door side.

Easy to test just run your hand down the seat feeling the contour of the foam until you find the bare bars if thats your issue. If its like mine the piece the bar actually pokes right through is extremely small.

Very uncomfortable on a long trip. I will probably get a price to have the seats refoamed and covered sometime soon to address the issue.

Are these the sti or non sti seats?

Are they all blue or black with blue down the middle?

Correct. I personally would grab the STI ones, but the wrx ones are basically the same seat iirc

im a big person and the v7 ones are much better but then you sit alot higher when they are in the GC or gf chassis

Much higher?

My hair already touches the roof, although I have wound the seats up so the side bolsters are more comfortable.

yeah its pretty high, i drove shales impreza with v7 seats and my hair was touching the roof as well,

Probably about the same as if you put those in a Legacy - I had to use the lowest possible position and even that wasn\'t low enough. Passenger will sit ridiculously high

Bugger. Probably not a good idea then.

Maybe I\'ll just have to pursue bending out the middle support on my current seats a bit more to make it more comfortable.
