Gdb front wheel bearings

Got the dreaded whoop whoop whoop noise coming from the drivers side. At first it was just while turning and I thought the shoulders on the front tires were scalloped out till I rotated and the noise remained BUMMER.

Anyway I haven\'t got access to a press to get the bearing out is there any other method at home that I can get em out??? Or am I kidding myself and just fork out for 2 new hubs?? Anyone know the retail on those??

Retail WILL make you cry.

Just did my passenger front, try to find a good second hand one or replace bearing.

Looks like its bearing onlytried getting hub replacement through autostop apparently only oem which made me cry :\'(

it\'s a 10min job to press the bearings in and out with a press, just get someone to do it, way cheaper than replacing the hub.

Just found my old quote.

Bearing was $130 on special

Drive spline $850+gst and shipping

Bare hub (just the cast bit, no bearing etc etc) $1200+gst and shipping 6weeks ex japan

Got a second hand hub for $120 iirc, did the job.

Wingers does a bearing kit including all the seals etc for a pretty sharp price, and if you know someone with a press should be a piece of cake.

Failing that, any mechanical workshop should have one

On my GDB by the time you could hear the bearing the carrier was completely f*cked.

And it was heinously expensive for one from Subaru.

I got my bearing kit from Auto stop the kit contained 2 seals and the bearing which was an NSK I\'d presume the genuine Subaru one would be NSK also both being Japanese.I perused Ebay and saw 2 other kits on with Timkin bearings and the other Saeco (excuse the spelling on both those if they are incorrect) .

All up the job was done in about 3 hours in total I caught it before the casings obliterated themselves althought the spline had evidence of bearing chatter. I took the hubs in to work pressed the bearings out stripped the grease out of the new bearings and replaced it with a very high temp grease a red synthetic lithium based mobil type cant remember which at the moment because the spline also showed evidence of high temperatures or so the old guy at work reckons

The hardest part was finding a socket peice the same size as the bearing to push it out totally an easy job to do with the right gear and if ya go get trade prices at auto stop cheap as fark
