3rd Gen vs 4th Gen GTB

In the market for a GT B. Have owned a gt-30, Impreza and 93 2.2l legacy and am wanting to get a turbo this time round.

I\'ve have been searching for info on what the main differences are and could not find much. What is the single turbo like in the 4th gen? Which one was better performance?

I have seen there are differences post 2007 in the 4th gen too, are these significant or just the "SI Drive" features.

Basically, is it worth paying the extra money for the newer shape?

Thanks!

This isn\'t even a decision

Go 4th gen, only reason to go for a 2nd or 3rd gen is cost (you can get them for ridic cheap if you keep your eyes peeled)

4th gen pastes 3rd in every area - drives better, uses less gas, has more potential in stock-ish form, and will hold far far better resale value for a while too

facelift 2007 GT\'s were updated with the 6 speed manual box (same as in the 3.0L 4th gen). Excellent gearbox much better than the 5 speed, worth looking for. SI drive sucks IMHO. About 12 months later NZ supply of GT\'s switched to Aust spec cars with the 2.5L turbo. Down on power, single scroll turbo (vs twin scroll previously). I\'d buy a facelift if the budget stretches (I did). If nothing else, the minor styling changes make them look sharper than the pre-facelift cars. I think the facelift 4th gen is the best looking of all the legacy models past & present - I\'m biased of course!

When I got my pre facelift I preferred it to the facelift. Now I like them both in their own ways. Has to be spec b for either, otherwise just looks very uninspiring. If I was to upgrade I\'d go after the 2.0 facelift with 6speed manual :)

Im still a sucker for the "older" BG and BH GTBs.... kinda what i grew up with being that EVERYONE in CHCH had one back then :P

The BP are VERY nice, love the sound of both NA and turbo ones too. I didnt find the ones i drove too involving to drive though, but i think thats a given for most modern cars now.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
