Intercooler sprayers on fmic?

Guest

Recommended Posts

Has anyone logged the diff in temp with intercooler sprayers back to back with a fmic? Was thinking of wiring it through a oil pressure switch or similar to turn it on at 8psi or so then having it master switched via high boost switch.

Also is it worth mixing meth/water to spray on fmic?

You shouldnt need a pressure switch Clint, the G4 can do that for you. Just use a spare aux Output and set it to come on at a certain inlet temp, or boost level.

Duh didnt think of that that would be perfect. Worth doing in your experience?

It certainly wouldnt hurt. We do it on a couple of the circuit cars as on really warm days after a few laps the heat can cause inlet temps to rise. I havent done it on my own car so cant comment from personal experience sorry (so far my intercooler has proved efficient enough to do the job) but in my opinion its a good mod for not a lot of money spent.

I don\'t see spraying methanol at the intercooler working better than water

In fact it\'d almost be a bit naughty to drive along with methanol dripping onto the road? Would keep the intercooler clean though :D

I recall seeing temperature results of using sprayers, does joker perhaps have air temp gauges installed to inlet and outlet of intercooler?

Meth just evaporates way faster than water, the phase change is highly endothermic (although actually less than water, it just happens at a lower temperature) thus removing large amounts of heat from the intercooler

Yes, you can get below ambient by using evaporation of methanol.

Suppose a water/methanol mix wouldn\'t be as flammable. But if i was topping up a methanol container regualarly i think i\'d be more likely to go that bit further and run methanol injection for full effect

Well no coz consumption would be uneconomic. Its not recommended to inject it greater than 50:50 anyway as then it becomes a whole lot more volatile i think.

Evos have this from factory

Yes it works

Just water spray tho, not present on all models is it just RS I thought? I know they ran it on Gaz\'s silvia in the states to get away from the high temps where they were and sure they used water/meth.

Thats what I thought but didnt want to sound like an idiot without checking up first, and I dont know tricky science words I only learnt what I had to to get good marks at school rather than actually learning it to remember it to use later in life. ::)

I was looking at some nozzles on Monday on my run but they dont have a long enough base to use in my bumper and no locking nut to hold em in there. Bunnings needs a visit.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
