Check to make sure the top nut on the strut is tight. Mine was making funny clunking noises and that is what it turned out to be.

Just grab an appropriate size ring spanner and give them a tweak to make sure they're tight.

Sway bar links and/or mount bushes??

I'd go bushes for a look. Check them for cracks/sagging/wear/etc. If none of that spray some lanolin on em (the kind you get from Supercr@p or Ripco - for use on leaf packs)

More than that have a service tech look at it if you are still concerned

What sort of subby is it? I f it runs the bilstien struts in it I have had the same problem in my Legacy wagon, my rears actually siezed, my mechanic told me that the bilstien struts have a tendnacy to look and handle fine even when removed from vehicle they still move nicely ect but when under load give that clunck your talking about, maybe that helps.

The other cause of knocking noises I've had in the front of my BH was one of the spherical joints on the sway bar links having a little bit of slack in it.

To prove/disprove, take out both front swaybar links and zip tie the swaybar up out of the way and go for a drive. If the noise disappears, inspect the links by grabbing the link and threaded portion of the spherical joint and try and move the joint in all directions. The joints are quite firm, it'll take a lot of force to move them but they should move smoothly.

Yeah it has the yellow blistein setup. The noise (knocking, tapping) is only at low speed (under 80km/h) while going over slight bumps in the road. Is getting progressively worse over the past 2 months. I spoke to one mechanic who said the suspension needs to be replaced. Is this true? He didn't test drive it either so i wasn't too convinced by his diagnostic.

I have always owned Toyota which are alot easier to fix so am not too sure who to believe when it comes to mechanics.

Can anyone recommend a good Subaru mechanic in Auckland who knows what they are doing and doesn't charge an arm and a leg??!?! ???

I strongly suggest you rule out the cheap and easy stuff first.

To take the swaybar links out takes about 10 minutes and you don't even need to jack the car up. Even if it doesn't have the spherical ball joint endlinks, it can't hurt to conduct a quick experiment to rule out the swaybar entirely and if it does turn out to be worn out swaybar bushes or endlinks, you'll have saved yourself a lot of coin.

After chatting to the nice fellas at Subtech they reckon the shocks are.... well shot! To get the suspension rebuilt is $300 each.

i can put up with the noise for now but will look at getting it fixed in the new year unless anyone needs some work and can do the job cheaper>>> PM me if you can.

Cheers

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
