Where did RSK come from?

Hey There, just curious where does everyone get RSK from on the B4 turbos, i know thats apprently what they are called but there are no badges, no emblems and nothing anywhere on the car to say it is that. Is this the only car in the world that has a name that everyone knows but the company never bothered putting on the car?

Kind of a random topic but yeah like i said just curious.

RS usually indicates manual trans, the K denotes turbo. Early models had just RS and were all turbo. Later models have RS for N/A and RSK for turbo.

From what I had read it stands for " Rally sport Kompressor "

Why its spelt with a K I have no idea. What benefits its meant to have, no idea to that either.

My hopes would be that its maybe meant to take slightly more load on the high end due to the twins ?

I'm sure we will find out shortly.

'K' for Kompressor is the Merc version, and gives it a 'cache' value.

I always thought it was just a trim level like GT-B and HX20, GT30, GT, MI, VZ, RS etc. and im SURE ive seen a B4 with an RS-K badge on the back or in the grill

you all kinda went off on a tangent there about what RSK stood for lol, i know what it stands for im just curious as to why its not and never has been a badge on the car? ... well to my knowlege and what ive seen anyway. And if its never been a badge why do we call it an RSK B4 i dunno im getting confused (although thats not hard to do lol - hence the topic )

In saying that though the car could be called Legacy GRF (Goes Realy Fast) and i wouldnt give a rats i still love the car :) :) :)

Maybe, a nice big RS-K would have looked so much more menacing though than just B4, even just RS, i always wanted an 94 - 98 shape rs legacy now i have whats essentialy the next generation RS but the damb badge is gone grr everyone asks me what b4 stands for

Most think it's simply boxer 4.

Makes sense, since the 6Cyl ones are called RS30's instead.

Apparently B4 means the suspension was tuned by porche, the "LEGEND" goes that they were happy with the engine so didnt touch it just made the suspension better and more refined. The Blitzen was then released with the porche designed body kit and internal styling also. Who knows if its true though just sh*t you read online in random corners of the net.

RSK is Rally Sport Kompressor

Kompressor is a German word(and contrary to popular belief, the word being used in this form by Subaru has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with Mercedes Benz), its meaning is literally compressor, or to compress something, or to increase its pressure (and contrary to popular belief does not mean Supercharger, that is just a literal translation).

The word Kompressor literally means Supercharger or Turbo charger.

 

A supercharger can be powered mechanically by a belt, gear, shaft, or chain connected to the engine's crankshaft. It can also be powered by an exhaust gas turbine. A turbine-driven supercharger is known as a turbosupercharger or turbocharger.

Germans use K's for there C's The Japs Love to give things German names.

Also B4 means Boxer 4.

Blitzen is a different thing all together (which is german for lightning fast)
