Suspected cracked head? HELP!

Have recently picked up a v2 type ra of what originally thought had a cracked head so plan was to rebuild once the uni semester has finished.

Typical signs are oil in water, water bubbling, white smoke and overheating etc according to previous owner... have driven it for a good half an hour and now confused on whether it actually is a cracked head, the motor didn't overheat, it ran normal temperatures, the smokey exhaust cleared after it warmed up to running temperatures BUT the water DID bubble a little. It also splutters under load and wont boost similar to having a broken afm. Have been suggested it may be an air lock somewhere in the motor and have been suggested to jack the car up onto a 40 degree angle and run it for 5-10 minutes.

Any help on the situation is welcome and past experiences! Cheers in advance.

As a side discussion, considering the purpose of the top water tank on a turbocharged Subaru, is there actually any need to raise the front of them?

I've seen mine bled a few times by my mechanic, who is a very experienced Subaru guy, and I've never seen him raise the front to do it.

+1 Just hold the revs up so the water pump/flow can force the air out. Quote from the Fuji Heavy Industries workshop manual:

2. FILLING OF ENGINE COOLANT

1) Fill engine coolant into radiator up to filler neck

position.

Engine coolant amount for refill:

MT model;

Approx. 7.7 2 (8.1 US qt, 6.8 Imp qt)

AT model;

Approx. 7.6 2 (8.0 US qt, 6.7 Imp qt)

CAUTION:

The SUBARU Genuine Coolant containing antifreeze

and anti-rust agents is especially made

for SUBARU engine, which has an aluminum

crankcase. Always use SUBARU Genuine Coolant,

since other coolant may cause corrosion.

2) Fill engine coolant into reservoir tank up to upper

level.

3) Attach radiator cap and reservoir tank cap properly.

4) Warm-up engine completely for more than five

minutes at 2,000 to 3,000 rpm.

5) If engine coolant level drops in radiator, add engine

coolant to filler neck position.

6) If engine coolant level drops from upper level of

reservoir tank, add engine coolant to upper level.

7) Attach radiator cap and reservoir tank cap properly.

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

      Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
