Built long block into a 95 wrx, what can I swap over?

I just picked up built engine with V5 sti heads.

It will be swapped in to the 95 wrx I have had sitting for

5 years with a blown engine.

I live overseas and just want to get the car mobile at this stage.

That means I just want to swap as many old engine parts over to the new one.

I have been out of the subbie game for a long time and cant remember much about

what injectors I need etc etc.

I need a new intake manifold. How about exhaust will the old ones match up?

Injectors are probably different eh?

Can anyone tell what I need to ask for at the wreckers?

Cheers

Exhaust manifolds are same same.

G2 will help a lot...didnt see mention of that in first post lol. Just make sure you take it somewhere where they know what theyre doing and it wont be a big mission just cost money.

I would swap to V7 mani, tb and injectors tbh. Way better option idle control etc and not too much extra wiring.

It's a lot easier to just run the earlier heads and you can still make the same power. I did this in my RS legacy and it goes really well. But I guess you gotta weigh up what's going to cost you more, rewiring of half the engine bay + manifold conversion/adapter plate setup cost or swapping heads to early bolt pattern ? Would be pretty close either way I think maybe ask your mechanic/tuner see what they think. I think if you do decide to go down the re-wire path it's a good time to think about upgrading to v7 manifold as said above, then you get 565cc pink injectors which will go good with the link and tune.

I have some mint condition earlier phase one ej20r heads here if you decide to split block - Also potentially looking for v5 head/heads as one of mine is poked so could do a trade of some sort with cash your way or something - if you do go down that road let me know :)

  • 3 months later...

Just a quick update to this. The engine has been getting worked on while I was away. Hes a good tech and we ended upwith a V5 intake.

The engine is just about to go back in once I replace a few old hoses here and there.

I was going to abandon the full exhaust wrap and just go with wrapping the uppipe and down pipe. Does anyone recommend these turbo beanies?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
