The STI can still hack it

My opinion on these cars: The VW is too german and 'safe' (it just looks like a golf), the ford looks like its about to swallow something larger than itself and the subaru looks just right :) No bias what-so-ever...xD

Great respect for all these cars tho.

Love that write up they did :)

I pulled up next to a golf r in the ra-r a few months ago...since my dad has had a few vw and Audi I knew a little bit already

As I pulled up a noticed a woman driving, pretty casual didn't think anything of it. Did that whole foot on brake engine turn off thing. Was staring at the brakes for a little while then the light goes green. Boom. She planned it and was bloody gone. Didn't even realise we were racing hahahaha

Would take the RS out of all those tbh. The new STI sounds like it isn't the best for daily driving (not that my current daily is great but lets ignore that). Having driven several GTI's, they tend to lack personality, great to drive but emotionless, plus having seen the repairs bills on some of the new model Audi/VW i'll stay well clear hahaha.

So true, My brother has a GTI and its fast but completely lacks any personality or emotion.

the stop/start on the latest golfs is much improved, almost instantaneous.

you can switch it off too.

with the dsg gearbox, a golf r would leave an sti in the dust, even the latest fwd gti edition 40 would give the sti a good fright.

they do everything so well, with all the emotional warmth of a tin of beans, which is still more than a fast audi !

my pick would be none of the above, for the same cash you could pick up a used audi rs3 or mercedes a45 amg.

Maybe a DSG would (idk havnt looked at stats) but which would you prefer? :)

Personally I would get an older Sti and modify it if you had that money to spend.

if buying new,  probably the sti.

it's old but still has plenty of character missing in modern cars and doesn't have as much interfering electronics as the newer cars.

funny how the aussies weren't as taken by the ford as euro or yank journos...

if you want some raw numbers, 0-100km/h, 80-120km/h from nz autocar mag

sti                   5.25/3.20 sec

focus rs          4.72/3.26 sec

golf r              4.93/3.10 sec

golf gti ed40   5.57/2.99 sec

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
