Aftermarket Sway ar End Links

I googled this but didn't find what I wanted...

What do aftermarket sway bar end links do exactly?

Would they be a good idea on my Impreza? I already have an Sti rear sway bar which made a huge difference in stiffness/bodyroll and would some decent end links do anything?

"The kit utilises a high tensile extruded alloy link fitted with ultra low compliance synthetic elastomer bushings. Critical hardware is replaced with high tensile components to match the higher loads. The result is much more precise & direct roll control with up to 25% more effective bar rate available at lower wheel deflection points. This does NOT mean an outright increase in your bar rate but rather a quickening of its effect allowing more bar rate earlier. Link shape & bush mounts are designed to allow maximum sway bar articulation to ensure full suspension travel while acting more directly under vertical load. Standard length maintains correct sway bar operation."

That is helpful but has anyone here installed aftermarket endlinks and think its worth it?

I have aftermarket links and a stock bar, 19mm iirc. I didn't really notice any difference. I only got them as they were cheap on trademe and I am switching to a larger aftermarket swaybar and the plastic links are much more prone to deflect and/or snap. Probably talking very poor performance returns on the dollar with the oem bar even if it is an sti part.

Are the rear links still the plastic 'C ' links on your chassis? I'm not familiar.

Nah, the 16mm impreza sway bar end links and the sti 19mm sway bar end links (which came with the sti bar) are straight with thingies on each end to connect to the bar and control arm, not the C shape.

It will only make a difference if the bushings are flogged out on your STi links. And you don't really need adjustable ones unless one side or the other is preloading the bar. I'm assuming you are talking about the front. As mentioned, the rear plastic C links break, and/ or their bushings eventually give out. If you are thinking of getting adjustable front ones, then don't get Whiteline for hundreds of dollars, get the ones DacerX has for tens of dollars.

ahh I was getting confused for a bit, I was thinking the C links were something else xD. Im talking about the Rear sway bar and end links which were both from an Sti, sadly the front sti sway bar doesn't fit my impreza. I was just wondering if I should upgrade the rear end links but It sounds like its not worth it.

I think I probably confused everyone now lol... even myself xD

  • 2 weeks later...

If you got to a bigger aftermarket bar, upgraded links are worthwhile as they definitely break/bend the stock mounts or links. For factory as Sam says, as long as it's all in good nick, you should be fine. Better mods you can do for the money. Like adding camber and caster to the front end.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
