Hey guys after a aftermarket ECU atm and have spotted a Apexi FC on tardme for 650 smakaroos. What I wanna know is, is this capable of supporting 220kw atw or more??

Thanks

Yeah it definitely is, I would say around 220kw atw it does the trick and can handle more. For $600 odd, its not too bad however I have seen apexis go for way less round the $200-$400 mark. If u are not in a huge hurry and I mean ie in the next 6 months I could be selling mine so as to upgrade to a Link G4 due to the apexi not having enough flexibility for the goals I have intended with my wrx.

Tuning flexibility isn't as wide as u have with a link, also with the Link u can wire in leds to flash as warning for when temps get to high, ie oil temps etc. Instead of having to fork out for expensive gauges which u can't watch when racing anyhow. Im aiming to build a full track car, so really need the flexibility.

Also other options like anti-lag, launch control is also available. Can also remove the AFM and a whole host of other loom in the engine bay like Boost Soloniod so as to start getting rid of all the "things that could fail" etc.

I also found as it is a piggy back ecu I have a few lil gremlins. Not major or anything but just annoying that has never really been able to be figured out whats the exact cause, and it looks like causes from the piggy back of the Apexi. As it is not a total replacement ECU, so I have issues like when on the track and changing between 4th and 5th my engine checklight comes on for no reason..... Which isn't exactly nice to see it come on, but have learnt to ignore over the years. Which probably isn't the best thing.

For a streetable car, an apexi pfc is definitely all good and does the trick nicely. Once u start getting into the track scene and where flexibility is key, I have started finding that it's quite limited.

The apexi ECU is a full ecu replacement not a piggyback. A piggyback by definition retains the original ecu.

Apexi's have been used in the past on 9 sec WRX drag cars so it squite capable of handling quite abit of power.

As wrxer says tho there are better ECUs out there for sure with more features.

hmm well thats something to think about, what about possum links WRXER do you know much about those? are they stand alone or piggy back?

Its not my daily driver and I want to get to the track for a play as much as poss, hillclimbs etc also I want the most power i can get out of a vf23 and decapped yellows..once the motor pops ill forge it. so yeah im not to sure what i should be going for in this department.

It can be done but its not simple / easy like a link. So i wouldn't bother trying.

If you have a type R the Apexi PFC / AFM combo will cope with 220kw easy.

Unless for setup reasons u don't want an AFM then the link is the cheapest alternative.

There are better ECU's out there than the link but they cost even more....

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
