Hi all

Just wondering if imported Jap cars like Stis/WRXs are limited to 180 by the car's ECU?

Would hate to go to Taupo for the meet and hit a limiter at 180 and spoil all the fun. Guess there's an easy way to find out just hope that there's no cop near by.

yes they are limited, but don't worry, you will only just make 180 at taupo if at all.

From what I've heard the car feels like it hit a rev limiter when it hits that speed and just wont go any faster. Even the GTR34s have the same issues.

I met a guy a few months back with a 2004 sti- said he bought software that enabled him to connect his laptop to his car and change factory settings on the cars ecu with this software.

Anybody have anything similar?

Not that I'm advocating high speed.

I have discovered with my Legacy that to remove the speedcut I only have to unplug the speedo. The ECU hasn't had a shitty yet, and I haven't had a chance to find out yet.

I had an early 93 wrx and when the speedo cable snapped it went into fail-safe mode and wouldnt go over a certain rev. thats what i discovered anyway

what are ou tryn to say????? :(

Someone did the number crunching on the old forum but if i remmeber right a stock (or near stock) STI isnt mathimaticaly capable of doing 255.

I may be wrong but im pretty sure I saw a thread to that affect.

All that aside I would be damn impressed to see it, I have seen some closed road runs of a couple of stock WRXs STIs a couple of years back and they were topping out at mid to low 240s, not even counting how innacurate the speedo is at that speed.

thankyou... but i agree who knows how accurate both cars speedos would be at that speed.. considering factory a speedo can be out 5%at 100km its probly up to 10 or 15% at 250ish

i heard years ago that before the back side of the speedos had the loom in them, there was a screw with 180k on the back side of it.

by taking the screw out you removed the cut out.

true or false i dont know.however if its an older model you could look into it :)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
