i think if you asked them what exactly your getting for your money you will be dissapointed. 425 isnt even the cost all the parts involved, you need to do seals and auto tensioner. i bet they have forgotten the extra hour and a waterpump off that quote,

the water pump COULD be good for 100kms but i garuntee you as soon as you roll out the door it will leak and then you will be paying for either new valves due to the bearing colapsing or just a new pump and labour to get back in there again. but your call, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! haha

As said waterpump too

and are they using genuine parts( I would say not) I try to use genuine parts in all of the vehicles I service as they are a/ Guaranteed to fit b/ will last as long as the part removed c/ they come with a guarantee :)

$425 seems too cheap to be honest, I was round the $900 mark at the Rick Armstrongs Subaru in Chch and they are meant to be on the expensive side of things.

Get the water pump done at the same time mate, almost like a ticking timebomb that one... You could leave it but as they have said...... As soon as u leave the bay, and if it fails ul be kicking urself for not doing at the same time. Most shops will always say the water pump should be done at the same time.

Genuine cambelt and tensioner cost approx $200 form Subaru, plus an hour's labour and a bit of profit should be between $300-400.

Not ALL water pumps and seals fail...i think this is more myth than fact and probably has more to do with regular maintenance than kilometres travelled.

I'm sure many will disagree, but it HAS been the case with all my cars.

Does changing the cambelt require messing around with the water pump? I'm wondering why people think it will fail him as soon as he drives the car away.

I just bought a car and the dealer had already done the cambelt (and only cambelt I think). AA checkup didn't seem to find anything wrong, but you guys are making me worried that the moment I drive it, something will explode.

car dealers only do the cambelt as then they can say its been done, theyre cheep. when i say ive done a cambelt i have done everything in there, if you dont really want to do the pump then atleast check the bearing and the drain hole for seepage. and seals ,tensioners etc... just do it right first time.

The cambelt drives the pump. You don't have to touch the pump when doing the belt, but you do need to remove the belt to replace the pump.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
