99 RSK B4 Standard boost

Hi guys,

I have a 99 RSK B4 which I have recently installed a boost gauge in. Now, the boost gauge is telling me that the car is running a miserable 3-4psi on the primary turbo and 15-16psi on the secondary. Are these figures what I should expect from a standard B4? ???

standard should be about 11 primary and 15 secondary. 3-4 is indeed miserable. sure you don't have a leak somewhere?

I am currently in the process of changing all the vacuum lines inside the engine. I have done the lines that lead over to the primary turbo, but none of this has helped so far. Should I do the other pipes leading into the black box on the secondary turbo side of the engine bay? Also, could it possibly be a leak in the metal pipe running across the manifold? Any other ideas or suggestions would be great Thanks

it can't hurt to replace the other vacuum hoses, but i would guess the problem lies elsewhere. worth a shot possibly.

what about the piping to the turbo, or the turbo itself?

did you get the boost gauge because you thought something had changed, or is the performance the same as it has been for as long as you know?

I have had the car for probably 9 months and it has been like that ever since I got it. I only put a boost gauge in the car because my mate had been saying that he thought the primary turbo wasn't working at all like it should, turns out he was right, lol.

I have just replaced lines 1-2 and line 21 from under the intercooler, and non of them had a restrictor pill in them. Is that normal? So far I have found two restrictor pills on pipes coming off the manifold, and another on a pipe between the T piece on the primary turbo. I have put them all back in the same place when changing over to new pipes.

It could well be the turbo, but it doesn't blow smoke or make any concerning sounds while driving. The weird thing about all this is that if I'm in 5th gear doing around 60 KM/H and I put my foot down, without changing gear, the primary turbos boost will climb all the way up to 10-12psi until the car hits around 85 KM/H, then will drop back down to 3-4psi again It only does this in 5th gear and won't go above 4psi in any other gear.

u cheeked ur codes? that is very low boos might be runing in limp mode? for some reason. mine runs 10-11 primary 14-15 secondary and thats a b4 to

you seem to have alot of ristrictor pills, im sure the only one should be on the line off the front of the turbo as in that picture from the second link, line 1 in the pic

just imagin that its ur primary turbo lol as this looks like a deminstration for a single turbo

I'll go and check over the vacuum lines now, then get back to you with what I find.

A while back I tried checking the codes, but it didn't bring up any errors at all. I reset the computer after checking it, but it still ended up doing the same thing unfortunately

doubt its limp mode, even in limp mode the car will only run boost as low as wastegate pressure and im sure the wastegate spring isnt 4psi?

I wouldn't say the spring would be 4psi as if the car is bellow 2500rpm the primary turbo runs 10-12 psi. Anything above 2500rpm and it runs 4psi until it reaches the secondary

well thats farked.. when does your boost come on?

The primary has to be working fine becuase your still getting the 14-16 at top end (which the primary contributes to).

Have you taken it for a diagnostic at a subbie place - could possibly turn up things a plug (cell check) in wont
