best cutter to remove scratches

i want to know as of this afternoon i saw my brother in laws son sanding the rear of my car with 80 grit sand paper which i must say had my blood boiling within a few seconds all i could think about was that kid putting water into the gas tank during that AA insurance ad.

well it turns out he has rubbed of some of my clear coat but there are some deep scratches like someone has keyed my car, I'm happy to spend the money I've tried mothers 1st step and that helped only a little.

its from the rear light to all the way down the side to the passengers rear door.

I'm waiting for my painter to return from aussie to see what he can do but i'm not a happy chappy and all they could say was "boys will be boys" ::)>:(

Respray I say. I wouldn't call them scratches either if its been dealt to with 80 grit!! I was imagining something more like a few little marks from someone with jeans on leaning against the car and scratching it. Not some kid taking to it with sandpaper!! :o

i cut it last night i got rid of some of the scratches but some are close together and are up and down instead of horizontal

I'm not impressed but if the brother in law and father in law weren't installing my kitchen i would be singing a different tune and the mrs also had a word to me before i had a word to them.

You will need more sandpaper to remove the sanding marks ;)

Without seeing the damage, it is impossible to advise whether the panels can be corrected without repainting. It will depend on the depth of the sanding marks that the child has inflicted, and the amount of clear coat on the panel.

If the panels are repairable, the process will likely involve the following:

1) Wet Sanding with 1000grit paper - to 'level' the clear coat around the scratches

2) Wet Sanding with 2000grit paper - to 'smooth' the 1000 grit sanding marks

3) Compounding with an aggressive cutting product and pad to remove the sanding haze altogether

4) Polishing to remove the holograms and marring left by the heavy compounding

5) Refining with a finishing/glazing polish - then a coat of wax.

I'd recommend having the panels professionally assessed before continuing attempts to 'polish out' the scratches. It's very easy to strike through the clear coat altogether if you're not careful.

(Of course, if you are looking to respray the panels anyway, then go for gold ;D)

well to top it off he found a tin of black paint in the spare bedroom which he managed to get open and went about putting it all over the floor his brother himself and the duvet an bed. then went back to sleep so it dried

i went psycho when they just said again "boys will be boys" >:( >:(

but they cleaned it up and gave us money for a new duvet after i went on about it.

its hard when there not your blood.

That kid sounds like he needs a straight jacket...

Or to be tied up outside..

No fucking way that kid would be coming anywhere near my house again!

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
