Need Help!!! ECU question

Sup everyone,

I have just put an STI Ver6 engine into my 97' Legacy. In doing so, i have decided to go with an aftermarket ECU.

My question is: how many plugs would my factory 97' Legacy have?

Im looking to buy a LINK G3 computer with a subaru adaptor - 4 plug, off trademe for around 1000.

I dont know much about ECU's but Im wondering if firstly will this ECU on trademe fit and if its worth it, i dont mind paying more for another ECU that will give me better performance. (already blown the budget, so might as well keep it rolling.lol.)

Im open to suggestion...

Oh and a side note, Im taking it to Kent at Speed Source to get fitted and tuned, heard he's the MAN...haha.

There will be a number of Japanese companies that sell ECUs for the gen 2. Zerosports do, but they arent cheap.

To run an ECU thats designed for an Impreza, you need to re-wire your ECU plugs. Yours should have 3 plugs but it is wired differently to the STI 3-plug wiring so a few things need to be swapped around. You could also get hold of some plugs from an early WRX or Legacy and rewire it for 4 plugs.

If the Link that you're looking at is a wire-in type, with an adapter to suit a normal loom, just forget the adapter and wire it directly into the loom. Much easier than swapping plugs round.
