Two men escaped serious injury last night in a high-speed crash on State Highway 1 at the junction of Andersons Bay Road and Cumberland St.

The black and silver Subaru car in which they were travelling was severely damaged when it hit a metal streetlight side-on just after 8pm.

Witnesses told the Otago Daily Times the Subaru and another car overtook them as they were heading towards Andersons Bay.

"They just flew past us. They were drag racing. They were about a metre apart when they flew past us."

The black Subaru was in front and the witness saw the second, white, car change lanes and overtake the Subaru which responded by speeding up.

He estimated both cars were traveling at more than 100kmh.

"As he came round the corner, he was going too fast and the back of the car slid out."

The driver's side of the Subaru hit the pole and one of the first people on the scene found the driver on the back seat.

The passenger climbed out through the windscreen.

Police took him away in handcuffs and he was later charged with using offensive language towards ambulance staff.

After being helped out of the car, the driver, a 23-year-old Blenheim man, spent some time lying on the footpath, smoking, before being taken away in an ambulance.

Police said last night he had chest injuries.

Police are looking for a white Subaru stationwagon seen travelling "at speed".

I don't recognise the Impreza as a regular doing the laps, but I haven't been in Dunz on a weekend night watching the boyracers behave like dicks in over a year now. Nick, now's the time to start prowling OMI for some new parts once they get the car. Shame it's a V2 they had to destroy.

Oh for them to lose it on that corner, I'd say well over the 100 estimate. Unless the driver only just found his licence in his cereal box that morning. Hold the phone, are they travelling north or south? Looks southbound to me.

To do that to any Subaru, you have to be doing a hell of a lot more than a piddly 100. Accident damage on a BF I saw was less than that with a combined head-on speed of 190+.

Depends on the point of impact.

if the rear schocks were rooted (and lets face it it was a 1995 model car so its a high possibility) and lowered then its totally possible they wernt going too much over 100 to do that.

Untitled-13.jpg

the red X marks the spot where the car came to rest... from what i can figure the arrow shows what happened... the blue X is where the back wheels must have lost traction... then he basicly oversteered and hit a pole on the drivers side...

obviously hes just a total dropkick to be doing those speeds...!!!!

Just goes to show that speed (I don't know if this is a marked corner or not) and an un-well-maintained vehicle are a combination for disaster. Add to that a complete ****ing twat behind the wheel and you've got a recipe for potentially alot worse than their little crash... Can't wait to have the funds to sort out my shocks etc

Glad there not part of the club. And silly fool obviously cant drive.

What with the Boyracer dramas being inflamed over the last couple weeks i dare say the judicial system wont go light on them.

Wait and see what happens this weekend for the Nats.

Ive already been threatend because of the car i drive....i just love people judging me...they get a shock when i tell them what i do and who im doin git for at the moment :)

What exactly do you mean by that Swindog? And I'm assuming it's the uneducated annoyed non car enthusiasts that are threatening you?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
