thoughts on GIZZMO IBC ELECTRONIC BOOST CONTROLLER!

as im picking 1 up off a mate for cheap

I use one, no spiking and it holds boost well..

A little fiddly to setup until you get to know it but a good unit.

I have the latest one of these and seems to be good, a little over the top for a road car imo but works well. But I had to get the turbo shop as setting the boost was pretty complicated. Keep that in mind lol

yeah looked at the manual and well doesnt seem to complicated its just getting the right setting lol

I have the MSIBC and its mint. Took me about two seconds to understand the % rating instead of PSI but if you work on 45 being about 15 psi (depending on your setup) and 50 gain youll be ok. Just fine tune off that.

Their new 2.0 manual is out and way easier to understand.

One of the best and easiest to setup. Holds boost well and and can up maps on the fly.

works well, but %duty cycle is pretty lame, would prefer a closed loop controller,

but even my greddy profec b is open loop as it happens... lame as.

you can change the gizzmos from closed to open...at least mine you can.

you can't change them, the newer gizzmo controller is close loop (i think),

the older one open. actually you can probably change a closed loop one to

open, but not the other way around. closed loop means there's a feedback

loop which the controller uses to make adjustments to the wastegate duty cycle...

in the case of the original gizzmo device and the greddy profec b, there is no

feedback loop. The person doing the tuning is the feedback loop in effect, and

once the parameters are set, there's no logic within the device to make further

adjustments.

A good controller IMO would be one where you just plug it in, and tell it how

much boost you want, and it just does it, and it maximizes boost throughout

the rev range and in every gear... no telling it how much to open the

wastegate, or any other crap, it just figures it out. At a guess this would make tuning

difficult, because the boost controller might be constantly adjusting things.

Why does mine have the option of open or closed then?

lol yeah, read the second line of my post... no reason a boost controller with closed

loop couldn't also have open loop, as that's just turning the feedback loop off...

doesn't mean they all can operate in either way though.
