  2. Hey all, New to the site and Subaru's in general. I'm looking at purchasing my first this weekend. And wanted to know whether there is anything I should be checking/looking for when I test drive this weekend. Also, whether there are any big differences between the 2l and 3.0r's other than engine size. Also whether these prices are realistic for the vehicles. Here are the vehicles on the list so far: https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/subaru/auction-1473302503.htm https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/subaru/auction-1468951369.htm https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/subaru/auction-1477983584.htm Thanks in advance for your help and advice

  3. The 3.0s are fantastic on long drives in terms of economy. My old one got just on 700km per tank. If you can, get a manual 3.0 or 2.0 turbo. And as new as you can afford. The pre-facelift (2003-2006 ish) 2.0 turbo autos are well known to cook the turbo The non turbos below the 3.0 are a bit of a false economy, it's still a reasonably heavy car, and the smaller motors are just... Woefully underpowered. The 2.5 single overhead cams are notorious for cooking headgasket too.

  4. Welcome. I have been in a 2.0 non turbo and 3.0 non turbo, I would go for the 3.0 just because the 2.0 is too slow for me. 3.0 would be pretty thirsty tho. Edit: I would get the 2.0 Turbo over the 3.0 but it depends what you want it for.

  5. HI Admin, could we perhaps add another category to the mods list and break it down further - seeing as there are so many ECU's out there these days like Link and Autronic and so many others. Also unsure if we can add a category for turbo and boost level so others get some guidelines/inspiration on what all is going on.... Model: Displacement: Mods: Turbo/Boost: Fuel: ECU: Tuner/dyno:

  6. Calling out to @thewabbit1 I know this thread is about a year old now but I never got around to fixing the satnav unit to the show the air con settings etc like you have and I am keen to have another crack at it! I'm not hugely electrically skilled so was wondering if you would mind drawing up basic diagram in how to wire that relay up to the satnav? Is it a relay like this one from jaycar that I'll need or perhaps a lower current one? https://www.jaycar.co.nz/automotive-relay-150a-spdt/p/SY4073 Is the relay supposed to have a plug with it to join your wires to or do you put the wires on spade terminals and connect them that way? And how exactly do you tee the wire in the switched 12v wire in the stereo wiring harness? Cheers mate!
