  1. Long term damage... Every time the crank goes around you are doing long term damage lol If it wasnt overheating it was running within tolerances, put the splitter back in, chalk it up as a learning experience and enjoy your bugeye
  2. More than selling your auto and buying a 6 speed manual I suspect
  3. If it didnt need a splitter it would not have left the factory with one, I'd put the WRX one back in Match the intercooler with the splitter (vs the scoop with the splitter) is my go to. The scoop just gets the air from outside to inside, the splitter and the intercooler do the mahi
  4. Bugeye's are special, they were the ugly girl next door when they came out, now she's all grown up, everyone thinks she's super hot and wants some 🤣 Morette's for the bugeye are out of production now and painfully rare/expensive, later years have HID which look and go ok, the original 2000 models have non HID headlights which are a bit average. There are other aftermarket options but there are also things you wont get a warrant with I thought everything up to Hawkeye had UEL, but I am often wrong
  5. Have emailed, despite working in IT for north of 20 years I seem unable to post pictures here with any competency 🤣
  6. One of the boys crew is an automotive groomer, gave the spec c a once over (even got out the clay) shiny and smooth https://postimg.cc/fJF0LF8L
  7. Alternator? Alternator/battery combo? I would have looked at plugs/coils before doing some of the mahi you've done, but at least when you sort it you know there is nothing else wrong Keep at it, you'll get there!
  8. Yeah there is a hard and fast rule, replace every 100K km Doing the water pump at the same time is an excellent idea, sending your car back to the workshop a week after you've had a cam belt replaced is annoying, been there done that Schrodinger's cam belt... I'd make getting it replaced a priority
  9. Looks like a chunky project, will watch with interest
  10. No airbag for the driver, how does that get over the line? The contrast between the exterior and the interior is hilarious Push the boat out, do a custom interior in the same colors, it might make sense then and at least you could put show car next to the price tag
  11. https://www.topgear.com/car-news/travis-pastranas-new-gymkhana-livery-wild Now with a paint job Interesting to see it's a stroked EJ20 vs the 25 they've been stuck with in the US
  12. Roy's Dumplings, he's mobile so someone on Facebook check and see where he's at on Monday (or if he's taking the day off, it is Labour day after all 😂 )
  13. Interesting, mines over 1.5 in S and S# on the analogue boost gauge, only a quick glance granted, 'things happen quickly' so I'm inclined to keep my eyes pointing forward
  14. I had also assumed I was boost limited based on those readings, seems that is not entirely correct Then I just put it in S and forgot about it
  15. Some fine rides there, some big bucks also with the Skylines and 2 door GC's I suspect
  16. Sign up for Uber and you are a professional driver He is a very good driver, but clearly not a good enough rally driver to be driving for Ford in the WRC, or even taking on Travis and Brandon in the US Champs Also better payback for Ford in Ken doing burnouts than wrapping hideously expensive WRC cars around things
  17. Ken is a much better showman and businessman than rally driver
  18. Looks more like a time attack build than a gymkhana car, but if Pastrana is involved it will work despite the looks Speaking of Travis and Subaru, keep any eye on Brandon Semenuk, just joined the Subaru US rally team, easily one of the best MTB riders on the planet and slaying it in the US rally champs already
  19. Meet up/grab some kai in Lower Hutt/Petone? Mate has a new dumpling cart out that way somewhere the needs to be sampled
  20. https://www.motor1.com/news/447861/longest-subaru-parade-record/ Sweet
  21. Theoretical question Buy it, rip all the hideous off and convert it back to a 'std.' GC coupe. What would the buy price need to be to come out in the black on the resale? There are still a few unmolested GC coupes kicking around, they go for stupid money in Aus at least if recent MCM episodes are anything to go by Edit: 😎 why bother when you could just grab this https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/subaru/wrx-sti/listing/2809155310?bof=ln1WQ6WR
  22. It cannot be unseen 50K 😂
  23. Shock load is generally 'at launch' a crunchy change is less of a load issue as you already have forward momentum, in your example 'it still works' and that is a good sign Some of those little crunchy bits may not be attached anymore though, and sloshing around in the gearbox lubricant, draining said lubricant at the next service will tell a tale, think of it as reading the entrails, but no animals are harmed in the process 🤣
  24. We run the risk of getting stuck in lots of 'returning from a desperately need post lockdown long weekend away' traffic and associated manic drivers if the venue is too far out of town? Makara? Out to the gate at Pencarrow?
