  1. Tested its off-road abilities when google maps took me on a tiki tour to a tiny dirt forestry road in the middle of buttfuck nowhere. Get 80% of the way through and there\'s a gate in the middle of the \'road\'. So had to do a thirty point turn in reverse up the side of the hill. And it was raining. And no cell reception. Thank fuck for Subarus I can tell you that!
  2. Yeah the ace is farked. The gearbox is five speed but feels like its full of rocks. However they do have a subaru vivo which looks to be an ace with a funky interior. The gearstick was missing but from playing with the linkage it felt five speed esque. Took photos in case it was of interest. Having difficulty uploading pix on my phone but can email them through if you let me know your address
  3. Heading up there now, will try to remember to check it out for you
  4. Presuming the impedance etc is similar it\'d run about 25% rich... That\'s hella rich. On v7+ you can flash the Ecu with different injector scaling but imagine the v5/6 era cars can\'t do this without aftermarket engine/fuel control
  5. My brain every time this thread is bumped:
  6. Also the pitch stopper bolt was just sitting in the hole, not threaded in whatsoever. I lol\'d
  7. V8\'s also have DCCD which was only available In a few non-ABS version 7\'s
  8. Can use a small hammer and tap fairly lightly (or use a punch) or use a rubber mallet... They don\'t take much force to remove
  9. Need something like this http://prosportgauges.com/subaru-oil-galley-plug.aspx Not sure who sells them locally
  10. The facelift has black innards instead of the greyish chromeish ones the pre-facelift comes with
  11. I think half the club members who do track days / auto crosses run the semi-syn ELF (myself included), it\'s fine
  12. Znoellis are less of a road pad than bendix ultimates: they need a bit of warming up but work well on track
  13. Isn\'t that just a bullet point under the second item? Ie. if you do some dodgy street racing, these are things that will get you double-screwed
  14. Is two parts, the main device unthreaded itself from the spark plug size adaptor with the adaptor still in the spark plug hole instead of the whole thing coming out The two parts are now 3500psi epoxied together so this will not happen again!
  15. Went to do a compression test on my car for a potential buyer, first spark plug hole the damn thing got stuck and it took two hours to get it out without damaging the car! So then of course because I was doing this in the driveway, I had to put the whole thing back together in the dark by feel. But took it for a test drive and all is well so thankful for that At least I now know that I can literally change sparkplugs with my eyes closed! Protip: if you\'re buying a compression tester that does both sized spark plugs, loctite the s*** out of it before using.
  16. If you don\'t keep an eye on your oil level and don\'t change it regularly (ie. if you don\'t take care of it) it\'s a good way to kill it. Same with raping them from cold. Overseas, Subarus have a massive reputation for reliability, but in NZ people thrash them to death with little or no maintenance so they have a bad rep here My STi is at 131,000 and going strong with (as far as I know) the original engine.
  17. Note that Mobil 98 is also ethanol blend (or was last I checked!)
