OK so i booked my car in for its 80k service, picked it up, read through the invoice and they hadnt tuned it, or changed the sparkies etc... so now i have had to book it in again for the tune up?! I thought a service included a tune up?!!

Confused!

last time I asked a mechanic what they did when they serviced my car, all I got was a blank and confused stare. i.e. nothing much.

According to Subaru NZ, an 80k service is oil and filter, pollen filter if fitted, check all fluids and fault codes. DOHC engines have their plugs done at 50,000km or 100,000km depending on the model. SOHC are usually replaced every 20,000km unless they are factory fitted with platinum plugs, and then is 50,000km.

Lol u'd be suprised how many cars these days still need greese though. But yea generally most don't.

never really had any cars through work that have grease points, really really old cars yea, and some 4wd have them usually on driveshafts, but thats it, everything is sealed bearings/joints these days.

always makes me laugh when people bring in their late model cars asking if we do tuneups lol, your car doesnt need tuning, its fucking tunes itself!!!

ahhhh ;D

I've only had my sooby since 80,000km so took it to my local garage for a 10,000km service. Is it a good idea to take it to regular old garages for services, or should I take it to sooby experts?

I've only done ~3000km since I bought it, but particularly interested in the 90,000km service and the dreaded 100,000km service ??? ;D

It feels good seeing how much money you can save by having a few tools and a set of ramps. I love that if you buy the upper engine cleaner and spray it in yourself you the can will only cost you $0.50 ;D

Also boostin why do the SOHC engines need the spark plugs done more often? and my TX will be a SOHC wont it?

Because they're easier to get to, and are usually factory fitted with coppers, not platinums.

Right so platinum's for me when I order them. By the way that garnish fitted like a treat after I removed the softball size ball of tar that the cowboys had used to try and seal the leaks caused by the old cracked one. That S*@T was everywhere back there. Is Upper cleaner $20 now I'm sure it used to be like $16.95 from Winger Greenlane a year ago?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
