Leaking Tyres

Recommended Posts

I have a set of 20inch Advanti Cardiac chromes that have recently had the tyres flipped on the rim due to camber wear. Now they leak & wont hold tyre pressure. I have had Tony's Tyre Service check them twice & they have advised there is no damage to the bead & the chrome hasnt deteriorated or flaked off so the tyre should seal. they have resealed the tyre/rim both times & there is no leak when I left the shop then within 48 hours I lose 10-15psi. Any body had similar issues? Remedies?

dunk in a pool or trough and see where the air leak is coming from, if nothing look like its leaking - when the pressure/weight of the car is on the tyre its causing the leak

are they sealing using that black sticky crap to seal to the bead? leaky valve?

Both are leaking?

sounds like valves to me! did they replace the valves or did they cheap out?? they should always wire brush the rim and seal the bead as standard practice regardless so it only leaves the valves.

a drop of oil into the valve stem before adding air has worked for me in the past. refreshens the rubber seal for a while also you may see a bubble of air coming through the oil too

I had tyres that went flat, but only after a blat on the motorway. The valve stems were cracked, and would open up with the centrifugal force of the higher motorway speeds. That took a while to find!!

Yeh they are sealing each time with that black tar looking stuff & troughing each rim which doesnt show any leaks so it seems the weight of the car is causing the leaks. Havent checked the valves so ill try that tonight but when I went back the second time it was leaking from the bead again. They advised the bead isnt damaged & the rims look fine so it shouldnt be leaking. Will check the valves & go back to them again if need be.

Hmmm, so stick the car underwater and recheck??

10 - 15psi in 48 hours is a fair bit. They should leak without the weight of the car on them. Are the rims themselves in good condition? No signs of damage or cracks?

The rear tires are leaking worse than the front. 10-15psi in the rear lost after 48 hours, front about 5psi. Rims are in good condition. Technicians at Tony's also confirmed the rims are fine.

Might be a sign to finally ditch these heavy things & get something lighter & more practical

Weird. I say chuck 50psi in them and sit them in the water bath for a while. But make sure they are fully submerged.

I say take them to a different shop and get a second or third opinion. If they think they've darnited them, they may not own up to it.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
