finally got around to pulling the blowen lamp out of my heater controls, found out it's an odd looking thing (to me anyway)

anyone know the code for this??? ie t5 etc?

If they are the same as in the bg5's, good luck. ended up having to get them from a wreckers. subaru couldn't even get them

Yeah, Subaru could only get newer ones that had different part numbers when I checked. Know where I got my mountains of spares from?

nah lamp doesn't come out of the base

i may have to just put up with no backlights for another few years, it's been 5 years so far! lol

u can get these from Toyota(most manufactorers use the same set up as a back light )

I haven't had much luck with 2nd hand ones from wreckers, they will just blow later on down the track and you'll be pulling the control panel apart again.

New ones to suit a BG/BD are about $9 each (from Subaru anyway, cant get at Ripco), so scratch that.

The best thing I have found is to make your own - go to Jacycar (or whatever you have local) grab some LEDs and suitable resistors, pull the old bulb out of the base and replace with the LED. You'll never have to worry about them ever again.

The LED's even fit into the plastic base just like the old bulbs.

Solder the resistor on one leg of the LED (observing polarity) and bend it back around to form the contact just the same way the old bulb was done.

Very easy and very cheap.

I would have thought they pull out of the socket, if they do they should be a T1 bulb or a T2

I had T1,T2,T5,T10 bulbs in dash and heater controls but I changed them for red led's

They look so much better

1. Does it matter what sort of LED you get?

2. What value resistors do you get ?

You can use many different LED's, I used a 3mm 40MCD. You could go brighter or a different colour, its up to you.

They do actually, you just have to untangle the wires that hold it in
