using petrol to clean subaru gtb rims

will petrol work to clean my gtb rims they have like a real metelic sort of finish when clean, petrol wont damage this will it?thanks

really hot soapy water is the best as it wont damage them at all as for petrol i wouldnt risk it

When you wash your car use the last Liter or so and wash your wheels.

Simple.

yea the car wash wasnt quiet getting all the crap off so ended up just using petrol on the real bad parts seems alright

ummm wouldnt use it, it breaks down the any paint or surface material and strips it clean, hence if you look at some cars below the petrol filler area the paint is damaged and faded from them spilling petrol down it.

hot soapy water and a good brush should do it otherwise rim cleaner from ripco

oh yip cheers for that yea i only used i tiny bit i dont like the idea either might try that rim cleaner your talking bout and see how that goes too be on the safe side

Buy a bottle brush (the cheapo $4 ones for baby bottles) works fine everytime....

Or Get a small sprayer bottle and mix some carwash with dish washing liquad (50Ml to 10Ml),

spray on to the affected areas(DONOT BRUSH/CLOTH IT),

Let it soak for 5 or so mins or while you wash the car,

Rinse it off with water,

Use bottle brush or sponge (soaked in the bucket you are using to wash the car) elbow grease works well here,

Should work in cleaning.

Repeat if need be

I use CRC wheel cleaner and have never had a problem with that.

Just used the Ripco CRC wheel cleaner (black spray bottle) on my rims and they came like up brand new.. very impressed, a ripco product actually worked..

Used soapy water in the past + bottle brush and also just a good job

after you have cleaned them, use a silicone spray to put a coating on your wheels, when ya get brake dust on them it will just wipe straight off with hardly any effort ( prevention is better than cure ) , i used this method alot of times and never affected paint.

DONT use petrol , ya might want to think about getting a higher quality low dust brake pad as well.

yeah its called being careful. iv had no problems with brakes. if you want to be extra careful clean them properly by taking the rims off.

I normally just use a rag and some water on mine, Clean them weekly so doesn't give them a chance to really get dirty

I've never had any luck with any of the spray on wheel cleaners, the $30 bottle of meguires was SHITE, i could have done better by pissing all over the wheels.

Just clean them with the rest of the car seems to work.

Capful o Kerosene with some dishwash deterg and some hot water.

Kero is a natural cleaning agent and wont harm the paint etc.

Also very good for cleaning your car of water spots or if your white car isnt so white anymore.

A capful or two in ten litres should do it.
