Hi everyone, I am looking at buying a 2002 Subaru legacy Blitzen. Its tiptronic and has 108,000km on the clock. It has service history from when it was new in Japan and has just had a massive service (100,000km).

Can anyone tell me what to look out for on these ie are the transmissions any good etc etc ???

Cheers guys

A lot of imports seem to come over with 100k on them - its still highish though. Its not to say it wont serve you well but obviously depends on how its been looked after to date. Big end bearings are usually the worry there.

Any mods done to it?

Cheers Guys, no mods other than its on 19" alloys. It has full leather interior and looks immaculate!

I have always wanted a Subaru but have always been put off by peoples horror story's of disintegrating gearboxes and big end bearings! Im guessing I would need a mechanical warranty??

I'm really surprised that there that problematic...I would have thought they would have brought some of that race winning technology to there top specd cars. Damn it!! I really want it but it sounds like to many hassles!

go lumley .. pass on, Janssens never get them... hell, shocking experience, with 4 year long court case against Janssens mechanical warranty, very very dodgy.. not worth the drama

I'm 29 years old, married with a baby on the way. So I'm not into caining anything to much now. We have a 06 XR6 Falcon but now I have a Ute the misses wants something a little smaller for her but something I like as I wont be driving some 1500cc civic around. :)

Any more reviews would be much appreciated. Sounds like Im still interested in it. Anyone know of a really reliable Subaru garage in Auckland I can take it to? I live in Whangarei where we have a Subaru specialist "Sub Lab" but the cars in Auckland.

Our Ford has a Lumley warranty with it, they seen like the best company to go with.

Cheers Guys for your help!! ;D

Looks nice, but Im biased ;-)

The blitzens seem to go for more than the B4's, if you arent worried about the k's then it looks like it has all the mods that need doing to it. Might be worth a compression check and make sure the tyres are up to scratch.

The be prepared to spend your life filling the tank up ;D

Theres a few threads on the topic, but I dont really get more than 350k to 50 litres driving short trips around town. I got 630 out of a tank between Auck and Welly.

Still when you enjoy burbling around town in a subbie, you dont worry about that :)

Yup when I saw it I fell in love with it immediately. :o

Well im sussing warranties at the mo (anyone know how much for a 2 year warranty from Lumleys? Does it cover all issues that may evolve?) Looks like we may be Sooby owners if a deal can be sorted.

Cheers so far for all your advice and comments guys

True better resale but higher price to start with and to tell ya the truth, I'm not to bothered any more with having a Auto/tiptronic. I've got a manual Ute and its quite nice to have a lazy car. We thought the XR6 we currently have would be great having a tiptronic but I never use the manual half...

Yeah we have a Lumleys Warranty on our 2006 XR6 and it really gives you trouble free motoring. Would defiantly have it with any newish car since it seems there is so much to go wrong these days with so much electronics.

replacement body parts can be pretty pricey for those blitzens. One of the guys that works on my farm has one and he punted it through a fence, anyhow finally sourced a new front bumper for it from a wrecker and they wanted 3 grand for it! hate to think how much new factory body parts would cost....

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
