FUEL ISSUES IN V7 STI ... SORTED

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone having issues when driving thru twisty roads or boosting hard after roundabout or tight of corner, only does it with under half a tank of gas. Have been told I need a spec c fuel something( I forgot what they are called ) in the tank or a surge tank. Does anyone have this problem. I never had this problem before reflash, ebc , walbro etc.

Did you use the factory sock, or the Walbro one? I have heard of people getting issues with the Walbro pumps using the sock that comes with them, and others who have used the factory sock who haven't had issues. I get pretty bad surge on a factory setup - pretty much exclusively after right handers. Koom makes fuel tank baffles modeled off the ones in the Spec C. You could see if he has any left/ is still making them.

I dont have any spec c baffles in my v limited wagon tank and run a walbro with its sock, and push around 280w kw.. I ran it almost dry at taupo track on full slick and I've yet to work out why mine doesnt surge.. I know it doesn't help op.. But I can't work out why mines fine.

To the op. I have a v7 sti pump and sock

dumb question :-[ but if you still have the stock fuel rail will your engine starve it self on the end of the rail if your car is turning the same direction that end of the rail is or vice versa and does the split rail fix this problem

no it has nothing to do with those lateral forces.

split rail is just a parallel vs series argument when 'feeding' the injectors.

ok so it wouldnt starve that cylinder so which is better in your opinion funky jus wondering if its worth the effort to split is all and do i need it planning to push the version 7 to its limits with the stock turbo

its a no KW gained mod. but in my opinion its worth the 'potential' to save #3 from 'potential' starvation.

I've hears high HP cars that dont run parallel and are fine, ive seen and heard of a quite a few cars melt #3.

so at the small cost of split rail i feel its worth potential safe gaurding.

your going from 4-2-1-3 fueling in series to ->

4 - 2

1 - 3

in parallel (or a variation of this depending on which way you route things.)

on stock turbo - with a walbro in tank pump u should not see issues with fuel rail on v7 gdb

been personally told this by 2 tuners including speed source who have a 330kw@w gdb sti and stil running stock rails etc

my old v7 sti made 224kw@w on stock rails and no issues what so ever

in v7 there are better places to spend up on bro than rails (unless u already done the other bits then yea man rails be awsum to do)

anyway not sayinf parallel rail is bad mod but on stock turbo say running 20psi its usually not an issue at all as long as u got the walbro in there ay bro

but if u wana be doing more in the future then yes its a good idea to safe guard and get it done

and yea fuel surge due to pump pickup position on subys

i always use the stock sock lol and never had issues

not looking for the KW but for engine safety and you guys hit it on the head was looking at the rail the other day and it looks like no 3 could potentially starve itself but if l aint need to do it I wont thanks for the help there guys shall keep it all in mind

sorry for the hijack just been reading this.i run a walbro intank pump 500hp series.when gas is low i get alot of surge and fuel cut problms.

fuel cut happens on quick fast turns and trying to accelarate it cuts then goes.and the surging is when gas is low going up hills ect

Questions asnwered up the page mate, use the Walbro sock and fuel surge seems to be pretty common, switch for stock sock

or fill up some more gas lol

our pickup pint is prone to fuel slush around the tank hence at low fuel level it will have issues nomatter what sock is used

best to have bit more in the tank as a sure solution (apart from spending $$ on a baffled tank)

i changed the sock from walbro to stock one, this stock one is indeed longer, just about twice as long

put 20 bucks 98 in it too..

made no difference..will boost fine upto 4000-4500 then it holds back....

will rev smoothly if you not on boost...as soon as you giv it above 2psi it surges/lags

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
