Installing spotlight covers

Can you only install spotlight covers over spotlights, not without them? Putting a standard bumper back on my V1 STi but don't have spotlights but have the spotlight covers and want to install them

My attempts at installing them over spotlights have been pretty dismal. The brackets (which I have on my spare bumper) blank out most of the hole the spotlight bulb sits in, so I doubt you can use both the brackets and the lights. I can't figure out how, if at all, the covers are supposed to go over the lights. The covers have little arms that bend around the bulb, but don't fix to anything and are hopelessly weak. I'm wondering if I could just drill holes at the end of each arm and wire them on by looping in behind the lights. Not sure if it would work without lights because the brackets they normally mount to provide the depth, ie; hold the covers out flush with the bumper.

I'm the opposite, I don't have spotlights but want to install the covers, hence the need for spotlight brackets (if my understanding is correct?)

Right, well I can take pictures of the brackets for you. From memory they are basically a flat plate with a hole in the middle and three (?) holes for bolting to the bumper shell. There are three (?) perpendicular arms coming off the plate at the edges with 90 degree folded tabs at the end containing captive nuts for the covers to screw to. You would be able to locate the arms from the corresponding holes in the covers. I'll measure them up when it isn't dark and/ or raining.

The brackets are different depending on what model you are working with.

What model are you working with?

hes working with a gc/gf im guessing.. as us GD and GGs etc dont have brackets AND spotlight covers go OVER the spotlights..

Yep early GC8 model. I've managed to get my hands on the 2 x plates/brackets that go on the inside of the bumper, but how do the spotlight covers mount to these?

But spotlight covers sit way out from the brackets/plate behind the bumper, is there a spacer that goes in between?

Covers screw on. If it isn't obvious how they attach, maybe they are the wrong brackets or are missing parts/ broken.

And a v1/2. They share the same bumpers v1-4 and v5 and v6 are slighty different...
