Clunking/knocking sound deceleration In 2nd gear STI V7

When driving at 25kph in 2nd gear letting the gas pedal

Off I hear a clunking noise from middle to rear back it does it when I accelerate also.

Is that normal? If not why what could it be...

of the car? has the clutch been done recently?

my mech forgot to do one of the bolts up and engine was hittign the fire wall on decel

It's a 2001 STI V7, I am not sure ifthe clutch been done or not,

Previous onwer did not mention. Only in low speed,

I tired it in 4th gear decelerate and accelerate didn't hear the clunking sound.

plus 1, i think driveshaft uni or rear diff bushes. maybe even gearbox mounts.

are you sure its not your shocks knocking? they only do it at low speeds, will also knock going up driveways and small bumps at low speeds.

Its very common for the STI inverted struts to knock

yes very true my old ones would knock at slow speed and never at high speed

my right rear one is knocking a little. but i think thats because i didnt put enough grease into it. easy fix

it was left Rear for me ! with most they seem to be left Rear ? i think the exhaust heats the grease ?

Does it make any of the sound when at really low speed on bumpy ground?

Mine used to clunk really badly in the rear, once I stopped at an intersection and it clunked so hard I thought the guy behind me had run into me.

A lot of places will say diff bushes but the first thing to check is the struts. After I got mine greased it went away completely.
