On Board Boost Cut?

To anyone who's reading this.. lol

I'm driving a 97 Impreza WRX, EJ20 Turbo. What's safe amount of boost to pump in? I've put in a Turbosmart Boost Tee and it does spike up towards 18 PSI, where then the engine cuts out completely, is that an onboard boost cut on ECU or is it the engine just giving up on me?

Mine cuts at 14psi, so not sure what's going on with yours. Unless you've got a version four, in which case maybe you have a higher cut. Is the "engine cuts out" sudden and violent? If so that's boost cut. If not then it's probably pulling timing or something to stop itself blowing up

Well i've put a boost gauge in and it happily boosts at 14.5 PSI, but any higher and it just stops till the revs drop and the boost drops.. hoping it's a boost cut. But to be safe i've turned the boost down to 10 PSI...

Fuel pump crapped out and running a standard Impreza fuel pump now.. Pick A Part didn't have any boosted ones :(

are you able to hold boost over 14psi without it tappering off?

yeah sounds like the computers cutting into limp mode as its running out of gas being a wrx you'll have a tdo4? if your wanting more boost a recommend running an aftermarket electronic boost controller.

But be careful as you could lean your car out and it'll detonate and you can say bye bye to your engine.

plus you could melt a piston as well as wrx aren't forged internals.

I'd personally upgrade your injectors to yellows, ecu to sti, and turbo to one of the vf series then when you want more boost upgrade the internals to forged.

I'd be far more worried right now about the non turbo fuel pump not supplying enough and just blowing it up all on it's own. There is a reason there is a turbo one and a non turbo one.

The TYPE of boost control has nothing to do with this problem. You could just drill a hole in the wastegate line to run whatever pressure you want. If you have a boost cut of 15psi (or whatever) then just don't run that much, problem solved. But get the fuel pump sorted before you keep fanging it.

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
