removing speed cut from 98 gtb??

can anyone shed any light on removing speedcut from my 98 gtb? is it just a wire or do i have do get my ecu chipped?

Why would you want to do that?

If for track purposes, there are addons you can buy for around $40 on Trademe I believe.

You can get a Pivot Speedmeter that inserts into the speed reading wire between the speedo and ecu.

yup I did just that : or the Apex-i speed meter also does the same

I've heard 240kph thrown around re. the NZ ones. But I doubt a lot of Subeys would get there.

The overwhelming question is why do you need it removed? Not a lot of people use GTBs for serious track work...

even on the track only on A ST island one will you have enuff room to test it (+ a single turb/high HP mods thrown in)

speed meter is a nice function mind you : 0-400m times

peak speed, digital readout, I use it as often as I do the OEM speedo

and yes at puke you can hit speed cut easy (even in a forester)

hampton downs you "could" hit speed but also

a n/a 2.5 auto skyline speedcuts about halfway down puke back straight, would be a lot easier in a turbed car...

track use, possibly get it chipped, smoother maps, up the boost a touch and speedcut removal. i believe re-map.co.nz would be a place to go....

also you will be wanting to fit some new big end bearings around the same time as removing the speed cut

Mine is NZ-new and still has speed cut - though its a bit oddball in that it seems to be Jap-spec despite being NZ-new.

Factory BH5 GTB held the official word record for a production wagon at 270km/h in '98 so delimited they can obviously get up there.

Yeah i think only the proper australian spec cars come without limiters, Our NZ new mitsi evolutions (bar the 10 as they must of been tagged as NZ cars and were reprogrammed, and the 9 as we got a AUSDM spec'd car) still have limiters, the NZ new coupes have limiters

My RX11 has no speed cut it has been in excess of 200 Km/hr ( of course on a track)
