For Legacy b4 owners - MAF meter

If own a legacy year between 1999 - 2003, and have an after market pod filter installed, I have a question for you, what kind of Pod filter do you have installed? And do you notice any effects with the Air Flow Meter Sensor?

Additional information:

Recently I've changed two air flow sensors, and noticed that my pod filter causing the sensor to not work correctly, which means a lot of power lost because the sensor can not tell the engine what's going on and so therefore the computer (ECU) doesn't know the amount of petrol etc... to use. I've done abit of research that some after marker pod filter cause the AFM sensor to blow up, if you have a pod filter installed and the sensor works perfectly, I would like to know what brand/type is it. cheers

Thats the exact same as my legacy bro. What are you on about?

i agree, i think you need to read up a tad bit more. if you got your pod nice and secure with a bracket etc and your not using oiled filters there must be another more serious fault.

have you tried cleaning your afms with afm cleaner?

checked for codes?

The BE/BH and V5/V6 models run an insert type afm NOT the coloured box ones found in all previous generation legacys/imprezas.

Vibration will be the main killer, im betting your cheap repco filter did not come with a brace to mount to the body?

Personally I cant see the reason of keeping the pod if your just killing AFMs with it. Chances are your not making any extra power and have just increased the chance of detonation.

Yes if your adamant on staying with a pod then I would suggest an Apexi Power Intake. Dry paper element, one of the highest flow rates and better filtration than the likes of a HKS foam filter. Are around $140 via Japan if you get them through 41 Automotive.

I bought an adapter.. there's no air leaking or anything, it's fully secure. I just put in the factory box air flow in yday, hope to last the life of the sensor a little long.. but anyways, i still haven't got any answer for the type of after market filter you guys are using? cause I dont mind spending on the brand filter like HKS etc... but idk if it's any better..

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
