yeah differnt injectors and different afm and different turbos if its a proper gtb motor would be best ot get the ecu for it an loom as it could vary interms of boost levels and what not

Just bolt your manifolds (intake and exhaust) onto the GTB longblock, run all the bolt on stuff off your original motor and be done with it. If you start trying to run the later model stuff in a BG5a you're better off just doing a single turbo conversion to V3/4 STI stuff at the same time, unless you prefer the TT torque curve.

keep it simple : single turb conversion

or use block and keep your intake/turbo setup along what koom mentioned, 'upgrading turbo's wont really make a difference, be more of a headache I reckon due to slightly different configuration (twin waste-gate to only 1)

Yeah cause hooking up a whole V7 motor into a BG5a is such a simple and cheap process :

If you're really keen, and confident with wiring, have a look at the single turbo thread for the wiring diagrams. Its a major pain in the ass and you'd be better off using an STI ECU (same amount of wires to swap, just end up in a different order) and putting a single turbo on it for ease of installation. The TT setup is barely reliable enough when the factory put it together, let alone when you try and retrofit it 14 or so years later.

or go you intial suggestion Koom : use block : swap all ancillaries over? (inc. intake/injectors/semsors keeping oem and retain original EC)

I've seen yellow injectors and vf 18/19 turbos on a non gtb motor so how are they getting that to work?

It's not impossible, just very much not worth wasting your time doing.
