Hard to find First gear

yeah, my clutch is a bit worn and it catches sometimes when warm in first and reverse. found that if you let it drop into neutral, gentle blip on the gas then clutch in again it goes in nicely. its more of.... a feature. lolol

catches ???

what u just explained is what i explained above - by letting the clutch out in neutral your spinning the shafts around in the gearbox - by pushing clutch in again your stopping the gears in a different position which hopingly aligns the gears / synchro better than was aligned before

I clocked up 600 odd k in it between Thursday & Sunday, and it went ok, no problem when driving, just first & reverse can be sticky/crunchy at times, hard for me to tell when its actually engaging properly. all gears will go in fine with car off, as soon as its on the problems show their face

pumping clutch makes no difference whatsoever

I think i will pick up a new slave cylinder for it as a couple of times since i have owned it the pedal has got stuck halfway on return, and from what i have read on the web it seems to generally be the issue

Have sourced a clutch & matching flywheel, just trying to organise cash for it now and fingers crossed all will be good again lol

mechanic at the workshop across the road from my house reckoned it was clutch plate, hes a bit of a muppet, but he owns a subbie himself now, so hopefully he has learned a bit more about them since he put the brake assembly back together wrong in my old mans wagon & i ended up with no brakes heading toward the basin, could have been worse, i could have been going downhill when they failed lol

well i went the drags got there fine and did my first pass fine then when i went to put it back in 3rd it wouldnt let me put it in then i stoped it still wouldnt let me put it any gear so i was pushing it back and foward then it let me into second and then i was fine again and stoped and it would not let me in first but then since those two it hasent done it again

Could be the clutch fork spring fallen off...

Have had similar problems on my 96 rs with 5spd box v5 sti.

wont go into first gear as if its blocked. But for me usually when that happens I put it back to neutral and stick it into first and itll go right in.

As for gearbox oil. if ur not too sure how much goes in there. catch the oil when u drain it and you can measure how much oil came out

Check and see if the adjuster nut that fits on to the clutch pedal from the master cylinder is not coming loose......i had the same issue in my mr2 couple of years ago and it cost me a gearbox coz i had no idea that nut had come loose making it hard to get the car into gear.

Hey, did you ever manage to figure out the problem? I\'m having this same exact issue on my BE5. Flushed my transmission fluid and no difference.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
