Okay so today was interesting, guys...

Went to the massive (MASSIVE!!) Subaru dealership in Tachikawa, which is a million miles away from Tokyo central. It's FOUR storeys of orgasmic win. Straight off the bat the guys saw we were Gaijins and plied us with freebies...Dad and I both scored little Legacy matchbox cars ;D We drooled around the showroom for a while; Dad's decided he no longer REALLY wants his Civic, and is very keen on a new Impreza sedan. "It will fit my golf clubs"

That was until...

...we saw the S402 #29 off the production line IIRC, sexy black wagon. Fark...Dad and I almost hit the decks convulsing...he always loved Legacys, and now he totally wants a new one

Needless to say we drooled around some more, then the guy that had latched onto his random gaijin customers took us through to the new parts and performance section...

I came.

Srsly.

Everything was f*cking STi or brand name aftermarket. There were tonnes of wheels...a fully assembled STi powertrain sans car...Defi, Prova, Cusco, HKS parts (just to name a few)...lots of STi shirts, jackets etc (none of which I could afford).

I busted out my good mate 'Gary' for a giggle - he's a little Impreza-shaped cat toy I'd scored from them 3 years back. Needless to say I scored a new one too...trying to think of a name for the little bastard. Got me an STi shirt, too

Then there was the used car floor. Err yeah...an entire parking building of used cars!! Lots of STis. New ones only of course...the GDB ones are way too popular to be sitting in a showroom, and the GC8 ones are hardly ever seen outside of the customer carparks (speaking of which, thar be a sexy ver6 V-limited in retina-burning blue, complete with S201 wing, parked outside). The whole thing was mostly new STis and BP/BL Legacys...the only GC8s were a pair of HX20s wagons.

SPEAKING OF WHICH. Holy crap. I sat in the black HX20s wagon that was sitting there and JESUS CHRIST my car is different now. It's easy to forget over nearly 4 years how much a car changes; this very stock wagon almost brought tears to my eyes, considering that was how I bought my now very, very different sedan. The steering wheel, gearknob and door cards were about all that was the same aside from the more obvious (dashboard, carpets etc). FARK.

Oh, there was a JDM-spec new Legacy too. I have to say...they are not HEINOUS. They are a bit ugly, but the same size as the BP/BL Leggys. Well-appointed I don't mind them...they would be good for my parents. As would the new Imprezas. Wouldn't do either for myself, but would be very happy if Mum or Dad bought either.

After we finished entertaining the feck out of the guy that showed us around the used cars (turns out he hates auto as much as I do), we went back down to ask the guys to call a taxi for us...train station was too far to walk on dead legs. He said screw that...I'll drop you back.

We were floored... I mean hell, the service at this place is already absolutely in a class of its own, it seriously feels like being welcomed home... but holy crap, chauffeur us back to the station?! That makes 'going above and beyond' look like pussy speak.

He ran upstairs to go grab a car and keys. We assumed it'd be an R1 or something taking us back.

The bright red 2009 STi that rolled up to the door 30 seconds later said "F*ck your R1, you're going to jizz your pants for real this time".

Sure, it was the auto STi I had cursed as epic fail, but sh!t. That thing has TORQUE. I swear it could tow a tractor and trailer if it had to. Hoooooooly mother of...

*cough* So if you ever go to Tokyo... go to "CAR DO Subaru Showroom in Tachikawa. It's a long-arse train ride from central Tokyo on the Chuo line (over Y600) but OH DEAR GOD IS IT WORTH IT.

So after that we went back to Autobacs, because I erroneously remembered that the Defi gauge I wanted was cheaper there.

Yeah, cheaper for the GAUGE ALONE. The two Subaru shops we went to had it for Y4000 dearer...but INCLUDED the Y11,000 controller!! D'OH :

HOWEVER, The good guys at Tashikawa said I can order what I want from NZ, and they will ship it to me. Which means... I can organise ClubSUB mass orders of parts from Japan - all new, or high quality used if you prefer - so we don't have to suffer with icky second-hand any more! ;D

HNNNNNNNNNGH. Epic country is epic.
