Strange Noise

Hi,

For the past week or 2, i have been hearing this strange noise in my engine bay.

I have a 2001 non STI Wrx. Every morning when i start the car, i hear a noise which to me sounds like air sucking BUT at first i thought it was my belts but i can now confirm it is not the belts.

The sound lasts for about a min untill the engine is nice and warm, i am not spot on with the location but it sounds like the "strange noise" is coming from the middle of the engine, FYI below the top mount intercooler and little bit arond the TURBO.

Maybe one of connections is loose but which one! Any help will be much appreciated.

Take a video cos strange noises happen alot and hard to disagnose on a forum.

it might appear something in the intake track might be cracked or split, and you can hear air being drawn in.

A vid of the noise would be useful or a person to inspect it in person is the best solution

IDC looks like its a part of the throttle body unlike earlier ones

The car still drives and sounds perfect.

The only way i can get someone to inspect the car, is that they visit me. if i have to drive to them, by the time i get there. The noise will be gone. Can only hear the noise when i first start the car no matter what time of day.

There are a number of people around Auckland that could probably have a look at it for gas money or a few pints.

check the intake hose and breathers for leaks/cracks.

I've come across a couple of V7's (including mine) where the intake hose is completely f*cked where it joins the turbo - might be worth getting a mirror or something and checking out the underside of it.

definately sounded like it was under that hose there and not by the turbo
