HID Lights in a V7 Spec C

Wasnt there a V7 Spec C which didnt come out with HID\'s? (Gravel Spec??)

With a Factory conversion the powered height adjusters are the tricky bits. I read somwhere where powered height adjustment is a legal requirement. (or maybe just another internet urban legend)

*NB In Aussie you have to have powered height adjustment and/or washers on HID lights to be legal. And I can confirm that the V11 STi has both.

All of the V7 spec Cs I looked at didnt have HID.....

Yea I was worried about the high adjustment, as the rest of it cant be to hard, the ballaist must just take a 12V feed for the low beams, and drop off for the high beams

The HID\'s should stay on all the time, and the high beams (normal bulbs) turn off and on via its own relay.

Yes, it can be done. Not quite straight forward though. The HIDs have different plugs and different numbers of bulbs. Also, I ran a relayed setup. I got Lightwerkz in the USA to custom make me a plug-and-play adaptor harness, it made everything a lot easier. Even then, Jason had to swap some of the connectors to make it all mate up properly. We couldn\'t figure out where the factory ballast mounts went, so we just discarded them and drilled mounting holes for the ballasts directly under the HID housings. Worked fine.

Be aware that the Spec C doesn\'t have the sensors and wiring for the levelling motors, so there will be an unfilled plug at the back of the housings once the conversion is done. Dunno if that makes the HIDs illegal in NZ, but they are illegal in Europe without the levelling function.

The HIDs got sold off when I parted out bits of the car prior to sale. Figured I\'d get more for them separately than selling them with the car. Also, they\'re a lot heavier than the factory ones, so you will violate the lightweight spirit of your Spec C if you go HIDs!

You can retrofit HID bulbs into non-HID housings, but because HID outputs a completely different pattern of light distribution from the bulb, the reflectors will not work and you will get a lot of blinding scatter rather than a tight focused beam. You may actually end up seeing less, despite the extra brightness! This is why I went with factory HIDs.

if u dont need the height adjustment u can just wire it to a certain level and leave it

i have done that hid conversion on a few cars and mostly left the hid level to one setting

in any case most cars with hid dont even change settings most times anyway

its fairly easy to put the HID lites

as long as u have the lights and the ballast boxes and the plugs (or can custom wire it)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
