diff binding when hot

when cold the car drives normal

once trans gets hot (few km of driving etc0 it starts binding in slow turns in either direction and in fwd and reverse

will changing gearbox oil help? if so what oil (anything apart from the regular?) to sort the binding issue at hot...

its a 5 speed dccd box

(changing the dccd controller makes no difference to the binding)

yea wrong oil can cause this, i\'d try it first, also i know its obviuos but just make sure you the same profile tyres on and/or that they are evenly worn.

the right friction modifier - gets added to the oil.

no i dont run that box, i have a v9 sti spec C 6speed. which has a tricky front diff.

If you are just running a standard viscous front diff no modifer should be required in the box oil afaik - but check with a performance professional.

exactly my thougts

the person we got the car off said was dccd and has a controller buut the box number says different

either way looking more like a centre diff replacement...sadly..

but just thinking if we should try the oil first just to see?

just going to use standard oil as per spec or add some redlin3e shockproof in the mix.....????

Have seen a few non DCCD boxes fitted with DCCD centres.

You must first establish exactly what is fitted.

If its is dccd then it could be controller. if not dccd ...Dead centre diff...Is oil black?...If so then its lllooonnnggg over due or the centre diff has /is destroying its self ;)

Correct oil is a must.
