I done goofed

Decimate

Recommended Posts

OK, so without doing enough research beforehand, I\'ve gone to get the gearbox reinstalled onto my engine and it wont go on past the bottom two dowels.

I realised that I\'ve got the gearbox as far forward as it will go, but it\'s the engine that needs to come back. Yup - I didn\'t brace it properly when removing the gearbox totally my fault.

I\'ve tried jacking the front of the engine up a bit from a couple of different points etc but it will only push in closer about 1cm, maybe two to the gearbox then it just locks and wont go any further. I\'ve had a mate underneath shaking the gearbox whilst I jack the engine, vice versa, etc etc but it wont budge. Is there a proper way to brace under the engine to get some good lift on it, or do I need to pull the box off and start again.

To give you an idea this is how it\'s currently sitting:

It\'s also possible that the input shaft isn\'t sitting in the thrust bearing, but I did line everything up properly with the correct tool etc etc

is the gap even all the way around the bellhousing and engine?

try putting the gearbox it gear and put a 22mm socket on the front pulley. give it a turn back and forth to see if its in gauging.

if it is then you\'ll just have to keep wriggling. ive had some engines go in easy and others be more of a bitch, but if everythings lined up then it should eventually give way.

also if you put the thrust bearing on the engine before install then thats your problem . the thrust bearing needs to be put on the selector fork first.

the retainer ring needs to be on the clutch .

when the engine and box is together then the first operation of the clutch will put the thrust bearing into the retainer.

sounds to me like you need to pull the engine back out :)

Just rock the engine back and have someone under the car bothering around with it. The first time I did the gearbox in forester by myself with a jack on garage floor. Went well. Just did gearbox in wrx couldnt get it in by myself then ended up doin it in 2 tries with a mate about 20min after Id wasted a casual hour or two trying to get it on by myself.

If the crossmember is on take it off helps a whole lot as you can get the gearbox high enough to sit into the engine.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
