IAT Sensor on a G4 Link

Does my air intake temp sensor have to be mounted pre throttle body? is there anything wrong with mounting it in my inlet manifold?

possible heat soak issue in manifold........However having said that mine is mounted where the PCV used to be under the throttle body and the tuner reckons its no problem.....The book suggests prior to throttle body though....I just wanted to hide mine from the WOF man.

We had heatsoak issues on one of the rally cars with it mounted to the manifold. Welded a bung onto the intercooler piping just before the throttle body and it worked much betterer.

any idea how meth nozzles effect the IAT being mounted close together?

Im toying with the idea of running a TMIC and meth but I would need to mount the IAT in the outlet but I would want to mount the nozzle there as well??

do you mean will the meth stuff the iat causing false reading ect?

that im not sure of but i wouldnt think so/ hope not

Exactly what I was worried about, not sure if the full tune is effected by the IAT or does it only pull timming when it gets to the temps its set to?

the tune wont matter as it is all relative and all conditions will stay the same i would think .

Don\'t you have phenolic spacers? You could probably put it on the intake manifold in that case.

V7 Spec C has an IAT sensor from factory on the manifold and Link say that\'s acceptable to use.

I do, also not running coolant through the throttle body

We had thick phenolics aswell, still worked better in the pipework. I wonder if the factory sensor has a plastic body or something like that which isn\'t as thermally conductive add the aftermarket ones? From memory my one it\'s mostly brass?

If you have a close look at the sensing end of the G4 IAT sensor you will see a small bead...This is the connection that makes up this J (Jay) type thermocouple. If this bead bit is in a full air flow area heat soak issues do not apply.

I peeled the plastic off mine so that is more exposed to airflow.....Works well.....Instant responce to air temp regardless of Intake metal work temp....Ceramic coat on manifold also assists.
