STi paddle shift

Has anybody driven one of the new age paddle shifts that STi put out with momo such as the following

Have been in a blitzen around Manfield with this set up seem to be reasonable but can still be a little "laggy" IMO but for road/spirited driving its sweet

Waste of time with most autos which are too slow to respond.

Better suited to a well sorted modern auto or dual-clutch gearbox.

I have and wasn\'t too dissimilar to my \'01 Blitzens gearbox. Does the job but can be very sluggish going down the gears. Nowhere near as good as VW\'s DSG boxes.

Was looking at this exact car, Like the auto. Found one in the limited STi spec, Looks bloody nice! Am on the hunt now!

its really no better than moving the stick .

unless its a twin clutch auto it will always be a gimmick / best left for people who dont know the difference

Even moving the stick is largely a waste of time in your average auto.

The latest BMW 8-speed auto is just as quick as any dual-clutcher and a lot smoother than most.

With the exception of the R35 GTR, Japanese transmission tech is waaaay behind the Euros.

If it\'s the dark grey/obsidian or whatever colour it\'s called that\'s on TM. Ask abut the car and if it\'s a genuine Sti. One of the things that make me ask that is the JDM Sti Legacy has Sti embossed seats whereas this doesn\'t. If it\'s the one I\'m thinking of I actually emailed and asked, got some kinda runaround story in reply.

Are you talking about the black one with gold sti wheels? If so, that\'s just a regular GT with optional sti extras put on. If it was a true "tuned by sti" or S402 model I\'m sure the sellers would know and advertise it as such. Not to mention it\'d probably have a plate somewhere saying the car is number X out of Y.

Sorry if this seems like thread hijacking. I always thought the Sti Legacy had Brembo brakes etc. It\'s a nice lookiung wagon but would hate it if I paid for something advertised as an Sti and it turned out it wasn\'t, know what I mean? I know what an S402 is and know how rare they are, have also seen Sti Legacy\'s on TM a few times and once again seem to remember Brembos being present. They\'re not really an Sti in the same way an Impreza Sti is, as far as I\'m aware the Leagacy\'s got different exhaust, seats, wheels etc but no engine tuning as such?

Looks legit to me, but yeah fully get what you mean. Unsure on the brembos, I would\'ve thought they had them too. But yeah all they are are a gt with sti parts, wheels, muffler, suspension, sway bars/braces etc. And think the s402s take it a step further with engine tuning for slightly more power and torque.

Exactly. It seems to have a few Sti bits but just spent seem to be a real Sti to me. Don\'t plan on buying it so don\'t care, lol.

Yeah lol, who knows. There is the "tuned by sti" badge on the back but I guess nothing stopping someone buying it and sticking it on.

Yeah it\'s probably a pseudo sti. Could be wrong, but I\'d expect it to be a JDM-only version.

I\'ve seen Aussie has STi "dealers" where you can buy some bits & pieces and they do ECU tuning - I\'m assuming the same is available in Japan as well? Not a released ltd edition model as such, more like how you can buy TRD/nismo parts from genuine dealers here now I guess.

Doesn\'t help that TM is full of muppets chucking a badge & seats on any legacy/forester and calling it an sti model either

There are currently no genuine Legacy STi wagons on trade me. Yes they come with brembos and loads of upgraded STi features
