BPE 5EAT tipronic box fault

hey all,

will be talking to the actual subaru folk in due course as well but wondered if anyone here has come across this before.

the 5EAT - i do know sometimes they dont stift nicely from 1->2 or 2->3 when cold, or up a slight incline and has never been resolved. seen it across half a dozen examples.

Worse than that (actual fault), has happened twice now, when cold:

the ABS, and traction control light come on and stay on, the \'sport\' light flashes. when it does this:

* i cant activate the tiptronic mode

* Cruise control wont work

* box holds 1st or 2nd gear and wont shift properly. = revs its nuts off

There doesn\'t seem to be a change in power delivery but i assume its the TCU going into limp mode :( turning the car off and turning it back on seems to return to normal but surely something is up and i shouldn\'t ignore it.

other info: Box has done 140,000kms from 80->140 i have done a reasonable amount of towing, admitedly no trans cooler fitted. BPE = 3.0 EZ30 donkey. I do like tip mode and use it quite a bit espec when towing and for engine braking. Wifey drives it like a nana.

thoguhts? people who\'ve had this? resourses youve found online?

Assume as the BP/BL get older this may happen to other people so im keen n to have a resolution to said thread for future use.

had those issues before. normally when the valve body is not functioning properly or fault in trans harness.

if heavy towing is done than check trans fluid and filter ( located behind the battery).

if the problem is intermittent than check the trans harness connector ( could be loose). apply some contact grease.

did you get it scanned yet?

if you did than whats the code.

i have complete repair procedures for Subaru.

thanks sorry i just saw this, Car has been up with ichiban to fix, hes on to it and knows the proceedures etc.

turns out was related to either valve body or the front speed sensor (see attached pic for front and rear speed sensor readings).

cant get the speed senor replacement at any reasonable cost so cheapest option is a new box.

the number starts with $2xxx. F U car. to remove, trace to the sensor, find a way to fix it and reinstall the full box was going to end up easily as much $ wise.

Found an identical box with on 70,000 on it. should have it back next week some time.

its a botherING s*** design frankly. The 4AT runs external sensors which you can replace easily, the 5AT are all in the box #makess***epiclyexpensive

But you cant deny its a dam some box.

cheers for the info funky. I\'ve got this prob with my 4at. Although the shifts arnt bad when cold.

Cause the pump was fine in the end was air getting into the pump

Cause the pump was fine in the end was air getting into the pump

If they are anything like the 2000 Legacy tiptronic boxes, once fixed sell it as they all seem to all have issues.

Flatmate had a RSK Legacy B4 that he brought private after 10,000km or so of ownership gearbox stuffed out similar issue sensor or valve body. Managed to track down a good 2nd hand one with a 3 month warrenty, 4 months later same issue happend. Ended up selling the car as is for like 3 grand in the end he was that sick of it (paid 12k for the car with around 80,000kms on it). Maybe the later boxes were better but doesn\'t sound very hopefull.

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
