Soft spongy brakes

The beast has an issue with soft spongy brakes.

THe fluid has always been kept full. DOT 4 used. Had a minor leak as some muppet left the front left bleed nipple slightly undone, however I digress.

SHould I try a bleed and see how it goes or is there other causes/remedies?

yeah, i\'d do a bleed, perhaps a bit of moisture in there...

if it was me, i\'d flush out all of the old stuff, and a good whack of the new stuff as well, as any moisture inside the lines can and will make a fecking mess.....

Do a good 2 person bleed, I am still not overly confident that the one person bleeder kits actually work as well as a 2 person bleed

Make sure you get the order right too. FR,RL,FL,RR. And also tighten the bleeder nut before mate lifts off the pedal as tiny air bubbles can be sucked back in through the threads causing a spongy caliper on that one wheel.

YO... I used to do it that way, but found it is not required... and have found the best way to get rid of stubborn air pockets,

is to just crack a nipple, and pump like fuck... 5 or 6 times... then lock the nipple... still always use two people though.

Yep one of the boys at work is going to give me hand, belly lifters are usefull for something I geuss.

Going to use DOT4 fluid, would 500ml cut it or more?

I would get a minimum of 1 liter for a bothering good bleed... you don\'t want to run out and have to start all over again.
