how to ID a Garret turbo

yes marks are on the CHRA which will give you a frame size. Measure the wheels to determine what size you have.

M24 0.7 AR on the compressor cover i know came on the full size gt3071r, with 4" cover. It could have also come on other sizes.

^ evo - they are specific to compressor size, so saying something like the work on blah blah and blah is not quite correct.

a gt3071 will have the CHRA number 700177-xx if its genuine.

on that picture the oil feed is pointing to the bottom, the inlet you see near the top is for water. so it would be between 9-12 o clock or 12-3 o clock depending if your looking at it from the front or rear.

if its installed on a subaru, it will be pointing up and can be seen / read. :)

twisted wont affect it, regardless of how the compressor outlet is oriented (or the turbine for that matter) the oil drain on the CHRA is always downards facing, which means the label is always on the top.

write down the full label on it and come back - there are LOTS of variants and rip offs.

I would be doing a careful inspection of the wheels and measuring before i hand over any coin. (means removing both the covers), to get the exducer and inducer sizes.

happy to help ID it once you have that info.

looks like the tag has been removed

apperently its brand new and not any driven km on it

just used for test fitting and some starts while ecu was being wired in

anyway

now how do i ID it

can someone look at it and say what it really is

yea i saw a mini rivet marks

if i bought a new turbo even if was chinga i wunt remove tags

if i bought a new garret gt30 and someone tried removing tags i wud cut their hands

Almost certaintly a chingchong model. Might have genuine compressor cover but no ID plate on the core = probably at the very best a chingaling refurb.

On the positive side, if it\'s already got a decent twisted setup and the dimensions are right it wouldn\'t be hard to swap a genuine CHRA into the existing exhaust housing.

had a closer look

there was a plaque there cos i can see the rivet head busted out

hmm so if there was a plate there and now its been busted out ..does that make it any mre genuine

and y the hell wud a fool do that

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
