Issues when fitting passenger seat to wrx

Ok while putting some sti seats in a mates wrx we came accross a strange issue

The passenger side front outer seat mount (closest to the passenger door) - the nut that the bolt mounts to somehow fell off from inside the mount

I have done a fair few seat swaps but this is the first time the mouthing nut has fallen off from behind the mount

Can\'t seem to reach it from under car (had a very brief feel around)

It\'s a v7 wrx

What to do?

Lift it and put a nut underneath or weld one back on to the chassis would be my first options. Or a self tapping fastener if you\'re feeling lazy.

A self-tapping fastener on a seat is asking for disaster in a crash. Let alone if a WoF guy or certifier ever noticed they would a. laugh you out of the building and b. probably require a certified damage repair to fix the inevitable muntage that would happen to the mount.

A self-tapping fastener on a seat is asking for disaster in a crash. Let alone if a WoF guy or certifier ever noticed they would a. laugh you out of the building and b. probably require a certified damage repair to fix the inevitable muntage that would happen to the mount.

I completely agree with you and I do not endorse this by any means. However, it is an option which answers his question...

You may be able to fit new nut from behind the seat cross member, if there is no Hole to gain access then you can just make one, I had the same-(ish) issue with a gear box mount on my Legacy( stripped bolt) we used a hole saw to cut a nice round hole then fitted a rubber bung into it after the job was done,

Not as easy as just getting a nut sert You will need a installation tool as well,also not sure how large they go I have them up to 8mm and I know you can get 10mm.

damm it couldnt have happend at a worst time for me

and sucks more if u break other peoples car even if its an accident

Keyserts go up to at least 12mm or bigger, same deal though you need a few tools. But pretty sure you can buy a kit to do it though.

Any place that stocks the recoil brand.
